    Stuck Thermostatic shower valve

Did you have any luck? I'm having similar issues but can't get quite as far as you. Can I ask how you got the chrome plastic surround off around the cartridge (with the 5 small holes on the right and some on the left). Thank you!

    Stuck shower cartridge

Hi all, I seen a post here by someone last year who was a step further along the process than I am. I'm replacing the cartridge and can't get the chrome plastic surrounding the cartridge to budge (the one with the 5 small holes on the right and a couple of visible ones on the left). It feels...

Honeywell alarm - 1 "zone" for 2 detectors - how to change this.

Hi All, I inherited a Honeywell Galaxy 2 system when we moved into the house. The detector in the lounge has given us a false alarm a few times and recently, during decorating a moved the wire which seems to have shown a loose connection (could explain the previous false alarms). The red light...

Best way to spend money to heat the home.

We definitely have insulation (there's wee grey balls everywhere at times ) but its something we can definitely look into. I took a wall lamp off today in the lounge and the draft through the small hole for wires was crazy - it felt freezing!

Best way to spend money to heat the home.

Thank you - the boiler is a British Gas 330+ (which I believe is a Glow Worm with a different label?) ... I'm no expert but the magnaclean is fitted with a 28mm pipe if that helps. This services 17 radiators.

Best way to spend money to heat the home.

Hi all, Our house is about 35 years old and is cold. Some of our radiators are full of sludge (I think) and although one room gets extremely warm within 30mins of heating going on, the rest of the house remains cold after 4-5 hours of it being on (12°C). We're happy to spend money but only if...

And just to check.... In terms of the roller - is there a specific roller head you'd recommend? Thanks again

Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 White Multi-surface Primer, sealant & stain block..doing too much?

Hi groovejet, thank you for the reply, hugely appreciated! Can I check that I'm understanding.... The PVA you speak of is small areas of the wall that have glue stains that if painted directly on to would not allow the paint to "stick"? The recommendation for sanding...is that in addition or...

Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 White Multi-surface Primer, sealant & stain block..doing too much?

Hello! We have moved into a house where the walls are plasterboard. They're in reasonably good condition but we have just removed wallpaper and are painting most of the walls (some will be wallpapered). I prefer to "do it right" first time but also want to make sure I don't over do it. I plan...

    Secure bottom riser to floor

That's great thank you! As you say - not pretty but effective and a good time to do it when new carpet and underlay will be going down. Super, thanks you!

    Secure bottom riser to floor

Hi All, I'm getting a new carpet fitted and realised the bottom riser of the stairs (going from the floor of the hallway up to the first step) is loose at one side. Can someone help me with how to secure this? I've attached an image that I had on my phone - the pic wasn't taken for the...

Cracked brickwork - nothing to worry about or more troublesome?

Cheers Andy! Love the optimism but in Scotland a long dry spell normally means 6 hours without torrential rain!! Anyway, I really do appreciate your help and hopefully whenever you're in need of a bit of advice someone is there with the help too . Cheers!

Cracked brickwork - nothing to worry about or more troublesome?

Thanks for your help Andy! Is it as simple as realigning this and problem solved or has too much damage already been done? Cheers for your help and take care!
