Water collecting on a flat roof

Thanks for the feedback, that was my concern too. The general fall is away from the house (green arrows) and the area behind lantern either follows the same fall direction or has no fall. Not sure what the standard practice is in such situations like behind the roof lantern, would you expect...

Water collecting on a flat roof

Hi all, Looking for advice / opinions of those with experience. We had a flat-roof extension built and the water mostly runs away except for the section between the house wall and the skylight where a fairly big puddle forms every time it rains (if I had to guess, I'd say up to 10mm deep)...

Skim coat peeling off when painting - advice needed

Hello all, We had a living room walls and ceiling skimmed and I repainted it after it dried (after a good few weeks due to lack of time). As advised by the plasterer, I have used Leyland Leytex breathable paint as we wanted to the walls to be white anyway. I did the mist coat of 9:1 paint...

Chased in CH pipes behind skirting board

Hi all, I browsed the threats but could not find one fitting my situation. I'm planning to fit new skirting boards in the house and have decied on100mm tall MDF skirting. I haven't fully decided yet whether I'm gonna use screws or the foam adhesive yet (I am inclined to use foam for the...

    Low VOC paint for woodwork

Hello all, So the house I bought had no internal doors in it (except for the bathroom - thank god!). The door frames have been painted in glossy white, in some places it's peeling off and I can see it's been painted on top of yellowish coat underneath. I have bought primed softwood doors from...

Covering external tile corner and the stud

Hi all, I'm continuing my quest to tile the bathroom and will be coming to a point where i will be laying the last column of tiles soon. It's on a stud wall and that edge will be sitting against the architrave. What's the best way cover the tile edge and the studwork? I could potentially use...

Covering the gap between the bathtub and

Thank you all for input. Sounds like there isn't an easy fix to my problem and I'm not very comfortable attempting channeling the bath into the wall myself. I shall leave it to the pros :) Thanks again!

Covering the gap between the bathtub and

It's a stud wall with 12.5mm plasterboard and a stud in the corner, not sure if this would be possible/practicable?

Covering the gap between the bathtub and

Hi all, I have put the bath in place before tiling to get my datum to start tiling above the bath and noticed that the walls are not at the right angle. If I align the longer edge of the tub with the wall, the shorter edge is "running away" from the wall with the widest gap being around 18mm...

Wall is wet but no leak???

Thanks. I had my suspicions about the dented pipe but was not aware that creases are bad too. I have requested for that to be addressed.

Wall is wet but no leak???

What exactly about it? Denso wrapping, where it's been hit by the chisel or something else? Tbh, I am losing my will to live with this lot as I had multiple issues with them and just want to get it finished with them as soon as possible and forget about it. Unless - of course - you can see...

Wall is wet but no leak???

Thanks Jim, I wasn't aware of such product but it sounds promising. I guess that's the best I can do at the moment. Thanks all for your input!

Wall is wet but no leak???

Understood. It does look like the denso tape is dry in those areas (perhaps it should be, not sure). And I've noticed that it's jot wrapped around the pipe like shown in your link JimCrow but rather folded around the pipe lenghtways. Now that pretty much the whole pipe is covered in the wall...

Wall is wet but no leak???

Hello all, Not exactly a DIY question as the work was done by skilled people but the situation has left all of us scratching our heads. Thought I'll turn to the collective experience of this forum for some ideas. I had the central heating pipes chased into the living room wall and the radiator...
