    Cabling irregular shaped ceiling

Nothing more than it just looks odd, the cables don't run straight parallel to the wall as you would expect with joists that run perpendicular to the wall of the same length. With different lengths of joist the cable tapers from closer to the wall on the smaller joist to further away for the...

    Cabling irregular shaped ceiling

According to the regs cable routing through joists are 0.25 - 0.4 of the joist length from bearer. This looks logical when your joists are the same length however where the building is triangular and joist different lengths then 0.25 of the length from the bearer is different distances, which...

Best way to cut section out of 40mm oak worktop?

Thanks. I'll take a look at blades to try and get a circular and jigsaw the same width and look to do that you suggest. Agree on the router bit, hence why I asked the question.

Best way to cut section out of 40mm oak worktop?

I meant at the corners, as the saw is circular and not vertical. But I guess I could do what you suggested and switch to a jigsaw with the same width blade to cut into the 90 degree corners which I didn't contemplate initially.

Best way to cut section out of 40mm oak worktop?

But with the circular blade of a track saw I wouldn't be able to get a straight vertical cut?

Best way to cut section out of 40mm oak worktop?

Hi, I have a 40mm solid oak stave worktop that I want to cut a clean section out of in order to install hinges to create a hatch. See below, hinges are the red bits. How can I best cut this to ensure the corners are neat? I am thinking a router but not sure the best bit which would be thin...

    Cladding garage in OSB?

Hi, Does anyone know if there are any building regulations that prevent me from cladding my garage walls in OSB? It's an integrated garage and all walls are brick/thermo block with a fire door leading into the house hallway and a garage door to outside front. I'm looking to hang things on...

How to get Part P qualified?

Thanks. Is my understanding correct that if you wish to do you own electrics in the garden or installing new circuits in your house then you need to be Part P certified and not just “competent”? thanks.

How to get Part P qualified?

What’s involved in this? I’d like to learn how to become qualified to be able to do my own notifiable work.

    Running cable in eaves

There is a door between the run. The options are: 1. Surface mount across adjoinment of ceiling/wall - don't really want to do if I can help. 2. Run through ceiling joist - but joists thin and thus don't want to drill the holes. 3. Route cable to the opposite outer side of the wall through the...

    Running cable in eaves

Joists are only 68mm. It's a lightweight structure (i.e. shed). That's my reasoning for wanting to run through the eaves tbh. They are much less likely to be screwed into in there than say someone screwing a ceiling hook into the joist which happens to be where the cable run is.

    Running cable in eaves

Ideally concealed. The cables are ran within the wall. It's basically to get to one side of a wall to the opposite 1.5 metres away. I guess it's no different than the cable for downlighters in the soffit.
