    Removing old kitchen sink unit

if it has been siliconed down, then you might need to run a knife along the edge. The worst one I did was a concealed sink which had an enclosed lip, I couldn't get a knife in so I ended up using a car jack to jack the sink up.

    Boiler size

you could get a couple of domestic boilers and cascade them. I know some on here have suggested 40kW which I think is a reasonable number if the cylinders are new. Given the use these might get and depending if you live in a hard water area you might want to get something slightly larger to...

    oversized boiler?!

With due respect, you said when have I legally fitted a combi, I answered your question to which you can only rubbish my username some more. I would be ashamed to call myself an engineer with your lack of knowledge.

    oversized boiler?!

You really need to size your boiler by the level of water draw not the heating demand. If fitting a combi in anything but a flat I would usually say nothing but 30kW minimum, this is for hot water flow and not the radiator output. If fitting a heat only boiler or system, again I would decide...

confused on which boiler to choose

There is no point talking to you because you don't understand. Get yourself back to College.

Toilet not flushing away contents effectively....

I am aware the cistern cannot be elevated which is why I said it might be a bit late now. I can see the cistern is close coupled but if the purchaser had bought one with a flush pipe originally then this problem may not have arisen. Please read replies and try not to misinterpret before getting...

confused on which boiler to choose

In my humble opinion, the UK is lagging well behind the Dutch, the Germans and the Scandinavians on heating systems. CIBSE research is generally in partnership with vocational colleges around the country. Don't take this the wrong way but there is a bit of a difference between their research and...

confused on which boiler to choose

Viessmann quote 15%, if you can understand German and read test.de, they also quote more than 15% for WC.

Toilet not flushing away contents effectively....

moving from a 9litre to a 6 litre flush is the likely cause. I guess its a bit late now but if you elevated the cistern to give you more of a drop it might make things better. It's also unusual now to have a syphon on a modern cistern but you if you do you may want to consider changing it to...

confused on which boiler to choose

What a load of rubbish. Weather Compensation is forward sensing, it will always be better than a non-WC setup because the flow temperature constantly varies, on a "standard" system it is either on at 70C with 50C return. If you have weather compensation then the boiler flow temp will vary and...

plastic or copper for cold water supply inside of the house

I would suggest you have a look on the OBI or bauhaus websites and then confirm what the max pressure is, then go for a drink.

plastic or copper for cold water supply inside of the house

As I said earlier, I would go with plastic. The plastic they use in Germany and the Netherlands is good for 16 bar, that is plenty for the 4.5bar that we get in the UK. I don't know how a cricket bat can puncture a plastic pipe or split a fitting if it was on correctly in the first place...

plastic or copper for cold water supply inside of the house

the problem i have found with copper is after about 20 years, the copper goes very brittle and if you try and bend it, it just snaps. I have yet to find old plastic yet so I don't know if it will be any good or not. They've used plastic on the continent for 35 years+, they don't seem to have...
