    CU in WC?

Hi all, been a while since I've been online, I'm thinking of installing a WC in the under stairs cupboard. The only thing is that the house's Consumer Unit is inside that cupboard at the moment. My question is, is it allowed to have a live consumer unit in a WC or not? If it's allowed, I...

Crack in Breeze Block Bedroom Wall

I had the same thing in one of my own internal walls. As it was not a wall supporting anything, i removed it all and put up a stud wall using 2x4 timber and plaster board.

    Concrete Blocks Vs Breeze Blocks

Hi all, I'm looking to build an outbuilding at the back of my garden later this year when it heats up again but am unsure as to which material to use to build it? The outbuilding will be used partly as a summer chill out room and partly as storage area with a small workshop. I'd like...

    2 x 28W 2D in bathroom: symmmetical or offset?

Hi, on a totally different note, I notice you have a towel rail supplying the heat for the entire bathroom (which is of a fair size). Towel rails are just that - there to dry towels, your bathroom will feel cold in winter, I know this as I installed a towel rail in my bath last year and...

Hi again, Checked and found nothing at all, the insulation is bone dry.... Even after all the rain that we've had recently, no water ingress at all. The sub floor is the downstairs plastered ceiling, I've also checked all the central heating pipes that run through the room but again nothing...

    Outbuilding and Permitted Development

Good evening all, I'm looking into constructing an outbuilding at the back of my garden and wanted to know if it fits into permitted development. It will be single storey, used as a summer house - somewhere to relax during bbq's etc. There will be no plumbing involved and no drainage...

plastic sheet between underlay and carpet

Hi all, Quick question, There's a musty smell coming from one of my bedrooms from the flooring. I'm suspecting it's some insulation which I put inside the cavity between the porch roof and bedroom floor. Now I want to leave the insulation where it is as the bedroom gets very cold if it is...

    External Wooden Door

Hi all, I'm looking to construct an external door which will be open to the elements. I'm wondering what the best wood would be to do this with as well as the frame? Any help and advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

    Shower Isolation Switch

Really? This is exactly how the spark who installed the circuit advised me, sometimes I really wonder who to trust, you employ someone to do a job for you and they simply can't be bothered to do it properly and lie to you.... Is it dangerous? Do you get 50Amp Isolator switches?(not the pull cord...

    Shower Isolation Switch

Sorry guys, have been in a rush all day and so typed a load of incorrect facts.... Firstly, the cable is 10mm t&e. Secondly, the electrician said that only a max of 40Amps will reach the isolator as the MCB is rated at 40Amps.
