Rads taking an age to heat up

Cheers Seco. The valve did start to drip quite a lot after taking off the anti-tamper but it settled again when I put it back on but closing the valve has done the trick - the rads heat up super fast now.

Rads taking an age to heat up

Cheers seco will give that a try. I guess there should be no problems leaving the valve closed right?. I didn't have one fitted before so I can only imagine the UFH fitter didn't know my boiler had an auto bypass.

Rads taking an age to heat up

glasgowgas - I don't have a problem with the UFH, it's the rads I'm trying to sort out so what would a pic of the manifold/blending unit do? That'll be a strike to me then right ;-) Seco - I've not seen one of these valves before but it looks like you just use a rad bleeding key or something...

Rads taking an age to heat up

Hi, I've recently had an extension built and with it underfloor heating installed. This has been installed in its own zone and the existing rads have been zoned off too. The problem is that since this has been done the rads are not as balanced as they used to be so I've been working on...

Velux window in the path of a fire escape route

Hi, Building regs have told me I need to move the location of a velux roof light in my single storey rear extension as it is in the path of the fire escape route from the window above. The problem is I don't want to move the velux window as the purpose is to provide light for the old room...

    Raised manhole cover in garden

Nose, you were spot on! Looks like I've got two biscuits here. The one under the cover sounds metalic when tapped - do you think I would at least remove this one?

    Raised manhole cover in garden

Hi Nose, Not quite sure! I'll have to have a closer look i.e. lift the cover. I think the chamber is standard size, not much bigger than the cover, but the brickwork supporting the cover is raised and the surrounding concrete has been finished at an angle creating the 1200x1000 footprint...

    Raised manhole cover in garden

Cool! The drains are owned by a private management company run by the residents (26 in total) of which I am the treasurer so will hopefully be able to swing it!! I was planning to re-use the cover and frame (old fashion iron type and very heavy!). What type of cement/sand mix would you...

    Raised manhole cover in garden

Hi, At the bottom of my garden I have a manhole cover that is raised by approx 200mm. The actual footprint is approx 1200x1000. This is a bit of a nuisance as we would like to use this area of the garden as a chill out area but the raise cover is somewhat in the way and very unsightly...
