    Bathroom ventilation through the roof

It exits vertically through the roof, I don't think installing the fan above the roof would be desirable.

    Bathroom ventilation through the roof

It was about 280m3/s before it broke so plenty of air flow.

    Bathroom ventilation through the roof

I don't know if it's rain coming in or condensation, either way it's not a lot, but enough to for into the fan. Rain will always be able to enter in small amounts if the wind blows hard enough in the right direction. The fan is already as close to the exit as it can be, and all of the flexi hose...

    Bathroom ventilation through the roof

I have an existing bathroom ventilation system where the vent goes through the bathroom ceiling into the loft space, then into flexible insulated ducting, 100mm inline fan, more flex duct, then into a hard plastic pipe that goes vertically through the roof. I've included an image below that...

Are my window straps ok like this?

I've just replaced an old window with a new upvc window. The profile of the window doesn't allow the straps to be fully rotated to 90 degrees as the profile channel it narrower than the strap fingers that stick out. Is this ok to leave it like this, or do I need to find some other straps that...

Supporting a wall spanning over a kitchen worktop

I had wondered about doing it this way. What is the reason for doubling up the strongboys, is it due to the weight of the 2 skins being too much for 1 strongboy or some other reason?

Supporting a wall spanning over a kitchen worktop

Ah, I always thought they were metal. Although with the price of timber these days it would probably be cheaper to use metal.

Supporting a wall spanning over a kitchen worktop

I’ve not found a single hire place near me that hires needles. The only thing I’ve found is something called Prop Pals but can only find the 1200mm version not the 1800mm ones that I would need.

Supporting a wall spanning over a kitchen worktop

I need to install an insulated catnic into a cavity wall 100mm blocks each side with a 60mm cavity. The opening will be 1800mm plus 150mm bearing each end. I've not been able to find anything that I can hire to support both walls as well as spanning over a kitchen worktop on the inside. Can...

    Smooth uneven paint

Wall was freshly plastered but was not a great job and was rather uneven, although this could not be seen under normal lighting conditions. The wall was painted and it was only when 2 wall lights were installed that it became apparent the wall was not smooth at all. My first attempt to correct...

Dot and dab over metal mesh?

Can I dot and dab over the metal mesh in the photo? Behind the mesh is half block wall and half timber. If I can't dot and dab over this what would I need to do so I can? Thanks

    Where is the leak?

Thanks everyone, I'll get a roofer to check out the lead and the weathering collar.

    Where is the leak?

That was the only bit that caught my eye, just wasn't sure if it was supposed to look like that or not. There wasn't loads of water running down so I guess it could be a pretty small crack.

    Where is the leak?

100% not a waste water leak, there is nothing above where the water is apart from the straight pipe going out through the ceiling and then through the roof.

    Where is the leak?

Hi, While renovating my toilet room I notices the soil pipe had a small amount of water running down the outside of it, at the time there was heavy rain. The section where I noticed the water is above any connections in to the soil pipe and from that point it goes up into the loft and out...
