Hi, I previously made a post about getting the correct boiler which I have now just about saved up for!!! I have been speaking someone who recommends getting an unvented cylinder, a condensing boiler and then also running the back boiler into the cylinder from our Solid Fuel Rayburn. They...

    New oil boiler recommendation

Thanks for all the information so far. Am happy to spend up to 2k on the boiler itself but if there is a good option available for less I am all ears :D I am quite interested in getting an unvented cyclinder and getting a back boiler for our fire to help aid the system a little as well...

    House rewire diagrams

How does this work, does it mean that building control would come and check the current state of the wiring and advise what isn't up to standard and advise you of what needs doing? A lot of the wiring looks to have been done in recent years.

    House rewire diagrams

On this point, I am not talking about doing anything myself. Maybe I shouldn’t have said "I Would" what I mean is get an electrician to carry out. I just want to know what options are available to me for splitting wiring from one house into two so I can talk to an electrician about doing this.

    House rewire diagrams

Does this mean the electrician could provide a certificate for testing (providing it passed) and I could accept responsibility for the design and construction? Or do I need an electrician to provide certificates for all aspects to comply with building regulations? Appreciate everyone’s help...

    House rewire diagrams

I am only looking to run the cables myself and not even going to connect anything up. I am certainly not looking to get my friend to fraudulently sign anything off. The last time I checked there was nothing in the law stopping me laying Unconnected wires in my house. If they are not done...

    Damp issue

Hi, The house is about 200 yr old and has no damp cause at all. If I can avoid digging further down I would like to as I would really have to drop a whole yard. My digital camera is broken at the minute but if I can borrow one I will upload some photos. Is there any other alternatives apart...

Hi, The back of my house has a damp problem as the yard out the back is built up slightly above floor level by about 2 foot. Seperating my house into 2

Hi, I am currently splitting part of my house into a separate dwelling. I am guessing I will need to have all the electrics signed off for the part that will become the new dwelling. Does anyone know if I will need to do the same for the existing part of the house that I am going to be...

    Stopping Penetrating Damp

I am looking for some advice on treating an old stone house for damp. The damp issue is penetrating damp as the stone is extremely porous. I have heard there are various products on the market now that are used to seal the stone from the outside (spraying or painting) but also allow the stone to...
