Going from standard felt roof to fibreglass

I have a 1970`s Wimpey built semi detached house with dormer bedroom windows front and back. The dormer runs the full length of both houses (mine and next door). Even though the felt is relatively new, about 6/7 years, I am thinking about going down the fibreglass route as a more permanent...

    Freestanding to built in cooker

Firstly I`m not sure if this is strictly an appliances question, or a general diy question so apologies if I`m wrong. Three years ago I fitted a new kitchen and decided to stay with my existing freestanding cooker, which even though it`s very old is still very good (proper heavy duty old...

    Can this be done??

I`m not claiming any such thing, who the hell do you think you are?? If I knew more than the manufacturers I wouldn`t have asked the question in the first place WOULD I??

    Can this be done??

Cheers Transam It`s filling and adding treatments that I find a total pain in the backside with a sealed system, and having a 4 storey house with the boiler at the top, filling the system is a pig of a job. I`ll definately contact Vaillant and see what they say, if it can be done then...

    Can this be done??

But will the boiler actually run ok with this lower pressure?? A friend of mine has a very similar boiler (I think it was the previous model to mine), and his is fine working in the way I want mine. Just thought I`d ask on here to be doubly sure, but I seem to be banging my head against a...

    Can this be done??

We`re getting away from the point here, I didn`t want to start a debate about open versus sealed system. I just asked the question "will it work?" because the open system is my preference out of the two

    Can this be done??

I appreciate these points but just want to know if it will work as a system, or will the boiler throw a tantrum??

    Can this be done??

I`m just about to start doing a fair bit of work on my house and was wondering whether my ageing boiler (Vaillant vcw 242) can be changed from a sealed system to a vented system with a header tank up in the roof. It`s already been changed from a combi system in the past and now it runs a HWC...

    Hot water issues

Unfortunately no, I`ve got an external timer/controller. It and all the other control gear (thermostats, motorized valve etc) are all made by Salus, unless they use a similar setup to the one you describe?? I`ll have a look at the model number a bit later if that`s of any help. Thanks to...

    Hot water issues

Ok cheers, that makes sense will fit one and see how it goes, I can`t believe the system was fitted without one as it obviously would never work as it is, but , hey ho!!

    Hot water issues

I thought it had to be something along those lines, will it be ok on HW only though with a restrictor on it??

    Hot water issues

Hi guys I`m new to this forum (but have been reading with interest for a long time). I do have a quick question to ask the "people in the know" on here. Here is a bit about my background, I have a Vailant boiler (acting as a heat-only boiler), running on a Y plan system with a hot water...
