Yet another Nest fitted with Vaillant boiler thread... :)

Hi again.... sorry it's been a while. In the end I got sidetracked with fixing the leak (it needed a new diverter valve) and then didn't bother with the Nest. But at the moment Screwfix are selling them for £149 with a free premium (£30) stand so I couldn't resist.... I should be picking it up...

Yet another Nest fitted with Vaillant boiler thread... :)

I haven't actually bought or fitted one yet. I was going to buy one from Npower for £130 as I am a customer but they have increased the price to £160. Although still cheaper than the retail price it's still a lot of money to pay for a glorified switch. In the meantime my boiler has sprung a...

Yet another Nest fitted with Vaillant boiler thread... :)

Looking at the 2015 thread that I linked to above I think I understand it and by all account as I have nothing wired in already it should be easy to do. Quoting @mikeyd So, connect boiler 3 (live) to Heatlink L and 2. connect boiler 4 to Heatlink 3. connect boiler 5(neutral) to Heatlink N If...

Yet another Nest fitted with Vaillant boiler thread... :)

Hi all.... I think it's possible to fit a Nest to my Vaillant 828 Turbomax boiler but I'm pretty confused about the whole thing really and there are so many different threads about doing it, I'm even more confused. I must say THIS thread is useful as it discusses fitting to a 824 boiler. Part...

Thoughts on this roof ultimately collapsing?

I'm just interested really, this roof is nothing to do with me, it a neighbour of my in laws. The houses have concrete guttering, my in laws had it cut back with a grinder, the roofline was extended and a new box soffit/fascia created onto which they had fitted new guttering..... they are very...

    Brick Acid on these bricks...

Around the DPC is a small amount of Algae/Moss but on the surface of the bricks they look more "sooty" not all the bricks are like this... some have a more yellow appearance... maybe it is just the way the bricks are... perhaps they were reclaimed or something... I have no idea. Just tested...

    Brick Acid on these bricks...

Thanks for the suggestion... I wonder how this would deal with just general ground in dirt and dust though. There isn't any algae growth that I can see on the bricks.

    Brick Acid on these bricks...

Hi there... I've been thinking about cleaning up the bricks on my house.... it's a 1960's place and the bricks are a yellow type. I've had a builder around today for another job and he suggested using Brick Acid... he said the bricks were really good/nice but were soft and so care had to be...

    The Vaillant 242 saga continues

Nice one guys... I took off that clear cover... and found the valve... and a slighty weird plate flapping around and sprung pushrods... I then realise that these would press onto the two microswitches when the valve rod actuates... The rod is quite tiff but will push in. I switched the...
