Yippeee!!!! we fixed it!!

The centre rod... has a fixed washer/nut then the plate that holds the plate and the push rods... and finally a screw....

The srew was spinning around... totally loose... I've tightened it and everything is fine now!!!!

Excellent.... the bike is still on the cards!!

Using my mobile phone snapped this pic before tightening the nut on the centre rod...

you can see how the plate is twisted and the nut is loose.
