The part on the left is a add on porch. The damp is in the main house. I wonder whether they've tied the brickwork for the add on into the main house and the joined up brickwork has been compromised. Will investigate that. Thanks
Hi, a few weeks later and this is what I've come across. I took photos of the cavity where the brick is removed. Any advice on where I go from here please? Been reading about thermal bridges but it's pretty confusing. I had the external wall repointed 6 months ago as it was in an awful state...
The house I've bought has a standard internal door and single glazed windows, leading to a single skin porch. There is mold accumulating in what would have been the old covered entrance (before porch was added).
Am I right in thinking I could get rid of the internal door, windows and walls below...

Hi all, my fireplace is out of use since installing central heating last year. I've removed the large ugly multi fuel burner and tiled mantle and hearth. I've been deliberating what to do with it now.

I plan to go a little further up with the removal of the paint but I'm on my own, and on a budget and can't get help. So I won't be scraping around on a ladder up there. The paint at the top is stable and not blown
Hi, I have a 50's ex council house, rough rendered. The paint on the back wall was blown badly in a number of places (probably due to weather and the half hearted effort the council put into maintenence and painting of the walls) so I decided the best course of action was to remove the paint...
