    Solar Pannels and Changing Sockets

Ah, I see, thanks. We didn't really get much paperwork for this tbh. It was one of the Gov. schemes to upgrade old houses with insulation and panels etc. They basically came, fitted it, had me install the app and went, "Bye!". Up until now I had no need to do any electrical work.

    Solar Pannels and Changing Sockets

Hi all. Apologies if this has been asked a million times before, but a search didn't get me any results. I need to change a couple of sockets and replace the pull cord switch to my electric shower. Usually I'd just turn off the main breaker as the wiring in this house isn't the best. I've...

What can I do with this gap?

Hi all, I've been putting up architrave in our 1970's house. I took the old architrave off a few years ago but due to illness have only just been able to put new stuff up. All of the door frames are out of true, but I had no idea this gap was going to be so bad! We've two doors at right angles...

    Fridge/Freezer power cord too short.

Thanks to you all for replying. I ended up cutting through the cabinet. Didn't want to void the warranty by using an extension; you know how picky companies are! All the best, Ex

    Fridge/Freezer power cord too short.

OK thanks for that. I'll have a look and see if I can cut a piece out of the wood then.

    Fridge/Freezer power cord too short.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Not really. It's a fitted kitchen so I'd have to cut through two panels to get the plug to the nearest socket. And that's the spur from the one the old fridge was plugged in to so I'm not sure how safe that would be anyway? I've attached a few pictures for reference.

    Fridge/Freezer power cord too short.

Hi, My fridge/freezer died on Saturday. Bought a new one and tried installing today, but the power cord is too short. Thought I could solve this issue as the socket is one of those wall mounted ones, not inset in the wall. Thought it was coming from the socket near it, but nope, it's going...

    What's going on here?

I see, thanks. Why might that be?

    What's going on here?

You missed where I asked why the black (N) is looped. I already thanked the respondent's for their input, I just asked one more question, but it's gotten lost in this argument.

    What's going on here?

Thanks for the quick replies! It's been like it for at least the last four years since we moved in so I don't think we're in any immediate danger. ;) The light switches are for two small wall lights which are also on the circuit. Sorry, I forgot to add them! So it actually goes: 2-gang...

    What's going on here?

Hi all, I've been trying to change the sockets in my bedroom from basic white to Black Nickel. Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on in the attached picture? The way it's set up is this: Regular grey wire with black (N), Red (L) and Green/Yellow (E) wires which go into a 2-gang...
