Fluorescent ballast bypass for Philips LED tubes - Query

We should look at lux levels, not lumens. Yes LED tubes often don't produce as many lumens as a traditional tube, but the lux on the ground may well be the same or similar. A modern 5ft ~20w led tube will nearly always be more than bright enough to replace a 5ft 58w traditional tube

Is there space to fit a ballast and wire it to the existing lamp holders? 18w HF ballasts run 15w lamps fine btw https://www.electricpoint.com/tridonic-pcpro2x18t8-2x-18w-t8-fluorescent-lamp-ballast.html

    Zone 1 lighting

Is it one of these? If so it's IP44 from below once it's fitted in the ceiling https://www.redarrowtrading.com/circular-led-panel-6w-120mm-dia-white-trim-4000k.html

    Fluorescent Tubes

The majority of light up bathroom mirrors I've seen with 2x 15w tubes in use a terrible, terrible quality electronic driver, if yours does it's almost certainly failed and as suggested above, LED tape mounded to a suitable heatsinking surface would likely be the best fix. That being said, with...

    Upstairs bathroom flooring dilemma

Hi all, Currently renovating a large upstairs bathroom & looking at options for the finished flooring. Previously it was tiled but many of them had lifted presumably due to movement (bounce) in the floor and/or not using flexible adhesive? I've been looking at waterproof laminate, does anyone...

    BT WiFi 6 Mesh

You may find the router is only set to broadcast AC & AX, there should be a setting to enable N also. -or- It could be the WiFi security option setting of the router that isn't compatible with the older devices. Go into the routers settings and change to allow WPA2, or WPA+WPA2 (similar to below)

    Good Quality LED Panel Brands

The Integral fittings have a proper spine meaning you can mount them directly to the joists

    Good Quality LED Panel Brands

Integral stuff is decent & Toolstation are good for returns etc, I happily recommend both. Buy a single fitting & try it, you can always return it, but more likely you'll return to buy more :) I can't see Edmundsons selling anything significantly better or cheaper especially to ‘Joe Public’...

    Good Quality LED Panel Brands

Don't overthink, buy whatever is cheap enough & from a recognised brand. There's a chance you'll be replacing whatever you buy in 5 years anyway. The only thing I'd strongly recommend is buying from a local store that will deal with any warranty claims as all modern fully integrated LED...

    Good Quality LED Panel Brands

6,500k is a very blue in colour temperature, I always recommend 4,000k as it's a much nicer neutral white colour. Obviously colour temperature choice is personal preference, so if you do like 6,500k then that's fine, however if you're not sure check out some displays in a shop if possible to...

Swapping in LED bulbs to replace halogen - switching themselves off

You can try leaving one halogen bulb in and the other 6 LED, this may be enough of a minimum load for the transformer not to cut out.

    Ballast Replacement T8 58W - Help please!

Quality Tridonic item also available here for £12 delivered (select 'T8 1x58 Pro'), looks to be an actual store rather than a private seller. Whatever you've read about poor starting may be referencing an instant start ballast which this is not (instant start is a bad thing). The Knightsbridge...

Bath waste & overflow help req'd for acrylic tub

Yeah, I know that. The thread isn't long enough even without the required rubber washer. I think I've found a solution now anyway...

Bath waste & overflow help req'd for acrylic tub

I've got one, but the threaded part is not long enough due to the thickness of the tub. If I could find one like this with a ~10mm longer threaded part the issue would be solved
