Ideal Classic Flow Rate & Grundfos pump

Thanks D, I guessed as much perhaps but the data graph is published so just wondered how it interacted with reality.. With just three settings trial and error is the way to go and I guess perhaps faster than need be is better that slower - I'll try "II" and see what happens....might end up going...

Ideal Classic Flow Rate & Grundfos pump

Thanks for the reply...apologies that I referred to the Grundfos UP single-speed circulator pump as a pump rather than a circulator. Speed setting is currently "III" and as as mentioned I was wondering if slower speed would be more appropriate for the flow rate stated for the boiler (I also...

Ideal Classic Flow Rate & Grundfos pump

Hi All, My parents have a Ideal Classic RS360 boiler with a Grundfos 15-60 130 pump. The pump is currently under the floor and set to position “III” - I was trying to make sense of the flowrates and pump data to see if a lower setting might be suitable...22.9 l/min would be about 0.38 l/sec...

    Danfoss Fridge/Freezer Thernostat query...

Hello all, Looking to replace a Danfoss 077B6635 which I seem to be struggling to find...I can see similar ones 077Bnnnn but wonder what the difference might be ? Just wondering if it's more a physical thing in so much as the capillary length rather than the actual thermostat and I could take...

Ideal RS330 and cool radiators....any help appreciated

No, don't think it's the same “loop” as I'm pretty certain I have a tee joint the where the upstairs return joints the downstairs “loop” after the last downstairs radiator and before the pump back to the boiler so I'll take a guess that after the boiler there is a split between the two but I'd...

Ideal RS330 and cool radiators....any help appreciated

Nope, nothing inline. I'm now wondering if its the TRV's (Pegller Terier II) on two of the downstairs rad's ! I can press the valve down OK and they seem free but when the rads were off no leakage when "Off" and as mentioned I did open them and there was water flow so to some degree that...

Ideal RS330 and cool radiators....any help appreciated

Thanks Terry. My Dad's hopefully expected back home from hospital early next week so an element of urgency so I'm contemplating just taking a punt on a new pump to then be able to look at this one - could I possibly ask for any suggestion as to a suitable drop in replacement ? I'm just trying...

Ideal RS330 and cool radiators....any help appreciated

Now having access under the floor the pump (Grundfos USP 15-60 130) which looks to have been replaced in 2013 seems to be running OK. It's fitted horizontally with the outlet side slightly higher than the inlet although it is pretty much at the lowest part of the system – pumps always been...

Just going back to the increasing size; Dinning room is 1st, double - Lounge follows which is larger again double (both Stelrad but that's not really relevant) followed by the Hall which is the older "ridged" type (no convection fins) and in volume maybe between the two. It's not a massive run...

Ideal RS330 and cool radiators....any help appreciated

Sadly no - that's under the kitchen and tiled ! It's just over an arms length (mine anyway) away...I reckon I'll have to make the access more suitable to my "frame" !

Thanks for the diagram - yes from what I can see that would be how it is and realise that the further you get away from the boiler the cooler the temp might be... ..what might be the best way to try and balance this type of system (if its not the pump ?) MTIA.

Ideal RS330 and cool radiators....any help appreciated

Its a Grundfos, it's on the return after the last downstairs radiator (and return from upstairs I reckon) before the boiler but just out of reach from the access for under the floor – I need to get under to reach it and it's a tight squeeze for me now as it is ! I can make it a bit larger though.

Ideal RS330 and cool radiators....any help appreciated

Thanks Terry. Yeh, I'm I opened each one when off (I think it was each) - catching the flow in a washing up bowl ! I'm pretty certain there is flow from each.

Ideal RS330 and cool radiators....any help appreciated

TRV's: two do, one doesn't - an old style "non convecting" type (that I should replace !). Good wash through - using both inlets/outlets (made a simple adaptor for my hose) and removed both top plugs - upside down, shake it all about so ran clean as best I could I reckon ! Not sealed - just...

Ideal RS330 and cool radiators....any help appreciated

Thanks, I've tried balancing using the lock shields on each radiators but with no great effect – the CH system as it is is pretty much as it has been for 30/40 years+ probably – it doesn't seem to be a true “feed and return” system as it were though with each radiator just T'd off the supply...
