No water coming from kitchen hot tap... :(

Unscrew the plastic thing off the end of the and check it for blockage. The hot goes down a small tube inside the spout with the cold around the outside of it, both are terminated separately at the plastic spray pattern thing on the end. If sediment has gone down the pipe it could have blocked...

Salus RT500RF Programmable Room Stat Questions

I wonder why. I had 2 fail in some flats, and ended up bypassing them for the heating to work. Having taken the receiver apart, the power supply appears to be a very low cost capacitive dropper circuit and a zener diode for regulation. As these are powered 24/7 it seems to last a while, the...

    synchron motors

I agree, there must be something governing motor direction, even if it's just a pawl but that's usually in the gearbox. You can pop the top off the motor and turn it by hand the right way to see if there's resistance. If there is, you should be able to see what affects rotation direction.

    synchron motors

If the motor coil is open circuit, you may be able to transfer the gearbox, or its contents, from the old to the new motor. The motors spin either way when energised and the gearbox determines which way the output shaft rotates by using a one way stopping device. If you spread the peened over...

Check the plastic nut on the salt reservoir inside, they work loose on the bosch ones, it should be tight.

speed fit on kitchen celing over sink

Well said. Personally I wouldn't use speedfit on hot water as the contraction and expansion can cause them to move. If you can't solder and you don't mind how it looks, use compression fittings, they're a lot more durable and easy to fit. Just remember to use jointing compound and don't over...

Kitchen sink drain pipe has fallen off

That's plumbers mait you can see on the gasket. It wouldn't have been stuck but clamped from the plughole above, usually the centre ring which the plug spindle goes through tightens it up. However, it looks like yours has broken off so it may have been over-tightened or there is too much tension...

    Bath leaking around tap fittings.

The green is from water running down them, it's copper carbonate. Can be removed with nylon scouring pad things or plumbers roll if you need to.

HELP! Drain airing cupboard hot water tank

hot water comes out of the top of the cylinder and can only do so if cold can go in at the bottom. So you either isolate cold feed into cylinder with gate valve on left or isolate mains cold feed to main storage tank in loft then run hot taps till they stop. the storage tank in the loft will be...

Old boiler with new behaviour - what do I look for?

make sure you haven't left the immersion heater on, if you have, the temperature difference between the boiler and cylinder is lower than usual. This can cause the velocity of water through the cylinder coil to slow down as the return temperature is higher. Because that slows down, the heat...

Old boiler with new behaviour - what do I look for?

Hi, you probably don't have a check valve. With a gravity system, heat rises and causes hot water to flow from the boiler up to your cylinder, around your cylinder coil, then back down to the boiler. There are two pipes for this, usually 28mm coming out of the boiler, no pump and no valves, your...

Advice on Condenser boiler drain pipe

I'd also be concerned as the amount of wood missing from each joist notch, that's effectively halved it's strength.

Worcester 24i RSF - water ok, heating not firing up?

the red one is just an indicator you can turn to show what the pressure should be when cold. the grey one is the pressure gauge so it's at zero pressure. Either it needs topping up or the prv/vessel has a fault
