Hi
I live in a 1920's property with very large window reveals. What is the best wood to use for this as do not want to use MDF as it's on stone and worried about moisture from it being an older house.
Thanks
Replacing a damaged UPVC window and it's an old 1920's house which has a curved lintel (like the photo) but what is the curved section called, or is it fabricated on the window itself?
thanks
Thank you. I'll look into the link you provided.
I'm not doing dot and dab. The right hand side is lath and plaster so it's all getting removed and then boarded on the studs.
The left is having wallpaper removed and then skimmed.
Hi,
Looking for some advice for the best approach to do the stairs and landing. I'm looking for a platform stairs method where you can safely work at the same level as the landing on the stairs.
The left hand side is getting reboarded. I'm going for a tape and joint so that hopefully won't...
I'm thinking of doing this. In regards of the adhesive can you use this expanding foam as have some left over? Or would the adhesive you linked would be a better solution.

Hi everyone.
In the first floor bedroom I was taking up the floorboards to run pipework and noticed the remains of looks like the fireplace coming out around 6" or so.
What is the best way to cover this or do you just leave it as it is?
Below is one of the living rooms which has the chimney...
Hi everyone,
Bit of a strange question. My boiler currently is in an upstairs bedroom and I am in the process of getting relocated downstairs in the utility room so this will then make the old flue pipe/vent currently going through the attic and out through the roof redundant.
At the moment...
Hi everyone,
Looking for some advice. Recently bought a property (1920's) that does need a good about of renovation and I can do a good amount of it myself (and friends help etc).
I lifted the carpet/underlay in the LR today so start stripping this room out. (Walls need to be chased for new...
Thank you. I think i prefer a stud wall. So you fill the whole void with 75mm in-between the studs and then another 25mm vertical.
Would a vapour barrier be needed for this before the plasterboard?
