    Condensation via concrete step?

Yes that is correct. So the top step you see on the outside is also visible on the inside painted white.

    Condensation via concrete step?

Hi all, my front door has been getting a lot of condensation at the bottom. Literally dripping off and on to the floor. The concrete steps sit between the brickwork of the house and so are exposed on the outside. Internally I have painted them before with masonry paint which got damp and flaked...

Moving pipes from drainpipe to soilpipe

Hi all, I think the picture below explains what I want to do best. But basically I want to attach a water butt to the drainpipe. I can't as the drainpipe currently has waste pipes from the upstairs sink and bath going into it, so dirty and soapy water. Is it acceptable to move the two pipes...

    Damp around window

Hi all, around both my windows on the front of the house I am getting a lot of damp. Windows were only fitted maybe 2 years ago. From the outside there is a small plastic strip at the top that butts up to a piece of wood that looks a little shaky. Should there not be a plastic soffit or cloaking...

    Can this door be re-fitted?

Hi all, I have a composite door which has not been fitted properly. I've no idea how old it is as it was on the house when I bought it a couple of years ago but it has always been like this while I've lived here. The basic problem is that it does not sit flush to the door frame in places so...

    Patio door adjustments

I have French doors and with the hot weather they are touching when I try close to them. Does anyone know how to adjust the gap? The one in top close to the frame does the vertical adjustment and the other one on top doesn't seem to move.

    Removal of bricks from fireplace

Thanks. All came out fairly easy. Some were loose and came out with a crowbar. Only one took some effort as always!

    Removal of bricks from fireplace

Thanks for the reply. No stove will be there. There will be either nothing or a small electric for affect.

    Removal of bricks from fireplace

Also to note. The wood burner in the picture is being removed. The floor is suspended, so there's a good 4ft drop under the floorboards. Can I remove a layer of bricks and build it back up with ply level with the floor? Then lay tile backer on top and tile?

    Removal of bricks from fireplace

Hi all, I've removed a tiled area covering the fireplace. Plan being to tile it again lower to the floor. I have removed it all but discovered there are bricks higher than the floorboards. Is it safe to remove this first layer of bricks? If so what's the best way to get under them? An sds or...

    Rips in roof felting

Thank you. I'll get some roofers around in the New Year and see what they recommend / get some prices.

    Rips in roof felting

Not too sure. Concrete? Here is a picture. It is a late 60's house I believe. Yes I think you are most likely right. I plan on selling in the next year or two so its a bit bad timing. But if it needs doing then not really a way around it. From what I can see the leaks come from the ridge...

    Rips in roof felting

Hi all, I was up in the loft at the weekend and noticed a number of rips in the roof felt. Some of which go under beams. Is it possible to repair these? As it is tight between tile and beam so I can't slide anything under. Felt looks in generally bad state with a quite a few rips / holes...

Damp above door. Can this trim be removed?

Ok I see, the trim is flat on top. Should the silicone be angled so rain rolls off and not sit on top of it? The mould is what I referred to as damp maybe I used the wrong term there.
