Kitchen sink sealent foam strip too 'springy'?

Update on this: I didn't have time to refit the sink so left it sat in place meantime. Over a few days, the foam started to compress under the weight of the sink (though only at the sink end, the lighter draining end still sat proud). Encouraged by this, I got some better clips (where better...

Kitchen sink sealent foam strip too 'springy'?

No, it fits great without the foam. Nice and flush all the way around. If the clamps arent't there to compress the foam, what is meant to compress the foam? It's pretty springy and the sink is really not that heavy.

Kitchen sink sealent foam strip too 'springy'?

I did overlap the foam but posibly not enough. I had about half (~3mm) in and half outside the perimeter of the sink. Didn't want to go too muchg thinner than that but maybe that is how the tape is meant to work?

Kitchen sink sealent foam strip too 'springy'?

I tried and failed to fit a new kicthen sink yesterday. Simple top mount stainless sink but without a raised profile around it's perimeter (just flat stainless steel). The sink came with a roll of adhesive foam tape so I applied that to the sink and lowered it into the hole in the worktop...

Gas main earth bonding has been removed

Hawd the bus!! I never said the EV fitter didn't fix the issues. He double checked my earth bonding and did indeed tighten the screws in the Henley block. My greivance is purely with the initial meter swap insatall.

Gas main earth bonding has been removed

The Electrician who I had install our EV charger this weekend confirmed it needed to be earth bonded. He also found that the main incoming leads from the meter were not tightened down in the Henley Terminal Blocks that feed the consumer units. This stuff is really dissapointing.

Gas main earth bonding has been removed

Sorry, I don't have pic, I reconnected it. We're on a PME system, there's no ambiguity, we need the gas main earthe bonded. It's an exposed metal pipe that emerges from the ground and runs the length of the internal garage wall (past the meter FFS). It is almost guaranteed to be at a different...

Gas main earth bonding has been removed

We had new elec and gas meters installed a couple of years back. Both meters are in the garage and the gas main passes through the garage along a wall. I was just tidying the garage and noticed that the earth bonding that was attached to the pipes as they entered and exited the old meter have...

Getting my head around PEN protection

@JohnW2. Thanks for your detailed response. Just on your last point above. While the connection to gas and water mains is intended only as part of the equipotential bonding scheme (and so shouldn't be relied upon to perform other functions), does the current path I highlight in picture 10 not...

Getting my head around PEN protection

Love this from @JohnW2 : 'I think you'd have to ask the person(s) who did the 'mandating' to get an answer to that question. The situation is, again, obviously probabilistic, so it's all down to whether the probability of harm is considered high enough to warrant pre-emptory action/regulations...

Comando Socket for EV charging (In Scotland)

The 'charger' does not limit the amount of curent the EV can draw. It's just a switch with some basic communication intelligance. All the smart stuff is built into the car itself. My van, for example, can charge at up to 16A. Plug it into a 32A charger and it will still ask for only 16A. It's...

Getting my head around PEN protection

I recently looked at getting an EV charger installed and learned about PEN protection for the first time. I'm not an electrician so it wasn't something I'd previously thought about (also please forgive any misuse of terminology). To help get my head around it, I drew out a few pictures showing...

Comando Socket for EV charging (In Scotland)

Unfortunetely, this is true. The £1100 deal was for a very basic charger with an app that is known to be 'lumpy'. A decent charger with a good rep was coming in at more like £1300. Part of the reson I like the simple Voldt style chargers is exacttly that, their relative simplicity. No app...
