    A silly little project

If you're an audiophile nut then why mess about amplified computer speakers? Get yourself a tripath amp off ebay for about £20. It will run off the nicad battery happily for several hours and they have an amazing kick.

How to correctly terminate/junction wiring if removing wall?

The crimps I have are used in the marine industry. They are like the regular compression type expect they have a heat shrink covering which has adheisive inside. Once crimped they are heated and it makes the joint totally waterproof and secure. Overkill in this instance but unless there's a...

How to correctly terminate/junction wiring if removing wall?

Ahh crimps are acceptable then? I've got a very nice crimp tool and plently of quality heat shrinkable crimps. The switch will be left out as the room had 2 switches, now it'll just have one. Cheers!

How to correctly terminate/junction wiring if removing wall?

Hi guys, I want to pull down a downstairs dividing wall which has ring mains and lighting wiring chased into it. I've had a builder look and it's not a supporting wall so can come down easy enough. Now I though I'd junction box the wiring in the gap between the ceiling and floor however I...

Do I need a new meter?

My time switch on my meter has been out for years. It's great. I can do all my washing, drying and other high power useage for a fraction of the price without having to get up in the middle of the night.

    electricity usage

Seems high. I've a 3 bed end terrace, no gas and electric hot air heating. Usual gadgets, big screen TVs, 3 PCs etc. I pay £92 per month direct debit and am currently in credit after the summer (no heating on).

Electric warm air heating system any engineers in the house?

Update. Unit is an Electricaire Enviwarm. Had a look inside it today with a torch and the fan is a cetrifugal type which is caked in dust and debris. The filter panel obviously isn't doing much! If I get time at the weekend I'll whip it out and give it a good clean to see if that helps.

Electric warm air heating system any engineers in the house?

Great stuff guys! I'll get some pics tomorrow. There's no obvious manufacturers name on the unit so I can't say what make it is. Hopefully its as straightforward as you say and if I can't source a new motor / fan there is a rewind shop just down the road from my work so perhaps they can...

Electric warm air heating system any engineers in the house?

I think the fan is on the way out in my electric warm air heating system. Some times it fails to spin up and when it does its very slow. Does anyone know if the fan is an easy replacement? The system is most likely the original from when the house was built (circa 1970) so even if its easy to...

Well several hours later I'm done in the bathroom. God dam it was hard work. Lots of banging, hammering, levering and prying. I've still got to do the toilet which I'm not looking forward to.

Removing tiles on wooden floor, they just wont budge! Pic

Redoing the bathroom and thus far I've removed a load of tiles off the walls. Now on to the floor. I have ceramic tiles which have been laid onto a sheet of 6mm ply which has then been screwed to the floor with hundreds of screws. The tiles are extremely well stuck to the adheisive which...
