lock ideas to improve out front door?

hi all. , we have an old 1920s front door which has two lever and mortice type locks, the upper one has a latch . I'm looking to make something a bit easier to use as we are locking both locks when leaving the house. Partly because the letter box is near the upper latch lock so it's more...

Thanks for all the responses, very helpful. I decided to take the first step and get an agent round and basically said what everyone here has said. Dont bother changing carpets, building work. Unless there is something that is really bad with the property it will sell regardless. And he...

Selling our house worth new flooring/carpets and creating utility room first?

Hi All We`ve decided to sell our house and after being rented for 4-5 years the carpets are a bit tired, so was considering having wooden floors or new carpets put in. , not sure yet. Also, we have a short garage (due to a shower room added to one end), which has a small freezer and tumble...

Interior wall dampness, how to fix this problem??

    Wall mounted desk, material suggestions.

Thanks but that wickes board isnt long enough anyway, I need 2.55m to make one piece desk. I`ve found someone who can supply, going to give them a cardboard template around the corner so they can cut it to shape.

    Wall mounted desk, material suggestions.

Thanks, think i`ve sourced some local mdf thats 3m long and they`ll cut it for me aswell. :P Also, just remembered I have a wall hung cabinet holding 1500 records, and supported by a wooden batten. Its been up there for 30 years, so just goes to show.

    Wall mounted desk, material suggestions.

Think I`m going to go with the mdf route and a set of drawers about mid-way below the desk for extra support. My only concern is unless I can get some mdf that is 2.8m long and cut it out of a single sheet i`m going to have to join two sections together. Any ideas on the best way to do this...

    Wall mounted desk, material suggestions.

Ah I get you. Had a carpenter come over yesterday and quoted me £240 for making the desk. Using 18mm melamine covered mdf. Not sure if thats a decent price, but might just spend a day doing it myself. He did say that I should use metal brackets rather than wooden battens for support because...

    Wall mounted desk, material suggestions.

Thanks for the all the responses. Harbourwoodwork With the template route. D you mean cut two 4mm sheets to the correct shape and then use battens along the walls and also the depth of the worktop from front to back. Then tack a strip of 4mm sheet to the front ? I've done some shelves...

    Wall mounted desk, material suggestions.

Hi All I`d like to build a desk for our study but i`m not sure about the best material to use. This is the design, total length about 280cm and width 55cm. Its to support 2 x 21" monitors , 17" laptop and keyboard. I was going to fix battens at the ends and along the backwalls. I...
