I see I have this vent in my airing cupboard which has leaked water at some time. I am wondering if I actually need it as the CH system is open vented and as far as I can tell that means no additional venting is required. Maybe it’s there for some other reason, can anyone comment from the photo...
Recently noticed the carpet in our hall is damaged in places, looks like something has been nibbling it! On further investigation the mortar underneath the door sill is crumbling so there is plenty of scope for insects to get inside but nothing bigger I’d say (the floor in the hall is concrete...
I am looking for replacement seats for my Sottini toilets and want to inspect them before buying rather than just placing an internet order as I am unsure of the model (can’t id them from online searches and they are quite old). The nearest comprehensive suppliers I have found are...
Hi, I took the whole assembly out of the sink and tried to force the spout out using the screw feature on my Workmate. It came out eventually but I had to wiggle it a bit and in the process the tube cracked. I am sure it is meant to pull out but as has been said they do tend to bind making it...
Thanks for all the replies, I’m sure there’s no grub screw as I have looked all around and other web sources confirm no screw on this type - there’s even a YouTube on it. I think I need something to get rid of limescale etc. inside the housing and am trying to drip some de-scaler in. Let me know...
Hi, The spout has become so stiff to turn that it sometimes turns the main pillar with it. I have undone the securing ring and tried to pull the spout out to clean and replace the o rings (which I understand is the procedure) but it seems firmly stuck. Is it just a case of more brute force or is...
We’ll both I suppose, as I said all the circuits on the RCD side of the CU tripped, and all the MCBS were in the off position when I looked at them immediately after the incident.
Yes that’s a possibility, but I’d also like to know what alterations are possible/recommended as there are quite a few anecdotal cases of non-faulty induction hobs causing this sort of problem due to inherent relatively high earth leakage.
edit: we had a similar occurrence probably 2 years ago...
This week the circuit which the hob is on seemed to cause the RCD to trip. It is the kitchen ring main and as far as I can see there are no spurs, the hob is connected via a manufacturers integrated 13A plug. This ring has an MCB and is on the RCD controlled side of the CU. All the circuits on...
OK, this seems to have sorted itself out. I found some instructions for a very similar looking unit together and read all your posts again and decided it was possibly in ‘manual override’ mode with the light on permanently. I switched it off and waited for 20 secs then switched it on again as...
Well that certainly looks like it. Excellent work! There may even be instructions somewhere… (btw it’s been there at least 8 years, since before we moved in). I have tried pulling that bit down and as I say there seem to be horrible plastic clips holding it firmly in place. I will tackle it...
