New Rehau window modified by fitter to fit

@crank39 Some other issues I've noticed, in the downstairs bay, I noticed that when they offered up the pre-made angled cill (or i it sill?), it did not follow the line of the internal wooden window cill, so some wood was removed. Now when I look at the angles the window on the left side...

New Rehau window modified by fitter to fit

@crank thanks for your reply. They measured the other window heights ok. I have to be honest I don't feel happy to accept the "modified" window. Relying on sealant that can't be accessed (Original drainage holes) is not ideal. Plus I'm not sure where I'd stand with any warranties.

New Rehau window modified by fitter to fit

Hi, Just had some new windows fitted. Frames are Rehau. One window had been incorrectly measured by the fitters (they supplied and fitted), and as a result was too high. It seems after much faffing (I couldn't see exactly what they were doing but believe they were using a dremmel like tool)...

Pressure Reducing Valve on DHW Cold Supply to Boiler ONLY

My boiler doesn't have pre-heat, BUT I have fitted a mini expansion vessel.

Pressure Reducing Valve on DHW Cold Supply to Boiler ONLY

@ianmcd I have a water meter, but see your point. Does a boiler's cold DHW inlet not already have a non-return valve? My maths suggests if the DHW inlet is rated at 6 bar, then a 5 bar static mains pressure (4 bar under flow) is well within tolerances. If the boiler is rated to take up to 6...

Pressure Reducing Valve on DHW Cold Supply to Boiler ONLY

@Johntheo5 To protect heat exchanger. Only lasted a year or so. Third one I think in as many years. Boiler DHW Inlet is rated at 6 bars max though so am unclear why it's needed. By fitting the expansion vessel I have done away with the spikes that used to occur (up to 7 bar spikes) when...

Pressure Reducing Valve on DHW Cold Supply to Boiler ONLY

Hi, Gas engineer has advised fitting a Pressure Reducing Valve to the cold supply feed just before my combi boiler and setting it to 1.5 bar. I already have a mini expansion vessel/arrestor fitted near to the boiler, and he has suggested putting the PRV valve between that and the boiler so the...

    Mini Expansion Vessel/Arrestor Pressure Setting

@Johntheo5 - Thanks, I have let a little air out, now reads 58 psi (just under 4 bar), probably lost a little more air when removing the gauge from the schrader valve. Pipe banging completely eliminated now and water pressure behaving exactly the same on the water pressure gauge when shutting...

    Mini Expansion Vessel/Arrestor Pressure Setting

Hi, I have fitted an Altecnic mini expansion vessel/arrestor on my mains cold supply feed to the combi boiler (we have a water meter fitted). Prior to fitting: Static Pressure (no flow conditions): ~5 bar Flow Pressure (one cold tap open): ~4 bar Temporary spike when shutting tap quickly: ~7...

Expansion vessel pressure & silicone grease inside dust cap?

@ianmcd thanks for the tips. Looks like I have a faulty heat exchanger, as the pressure still rises even after checking the expansion vessel correctly. If the tap supplying the mains feed to the hot water side is closed off, the pressure stabilises and the pressure relief valve closes...

Expansion vessel pressure & silicone grease inside dust cap?

Thanks @ianmcd I assume these are the flow and return valves I need to close using a screwdriver prior to draining the boiler pressure before checking the EV pressure.

Push Fit Stop Cock/Tap to Replace Old Sized One

Ah, that sounds like a great option..... saves messing with the pipework! I've never done such a thing before, is it just a matter of unscrewing the head? @Exedon - Don't suppose you have a link to a suitable Peglar Stop Tap, when I google it, lots of variations show up. Thanks

Expansion vessel pressure & silicone grease inside dust cap?

Also, does anyone know how to drain the Vokera Compact 24? The chap had a go at trying to remove the Pressure Release Valve with some water pump pliers hence the scuff marks on it, not really sure what he was trying to do, especially as he hadn't isolated the flow and return either! What is...

Expansion vessel pressure & silicone grease inside dust cap?

Thanks, I thought the same about the grease, now how to get it out of the valve, it's not easy to access it and I don't want to press the valve as it will let air out....

Expansion vessel pressure & silicone grease inside dust cap?

Hi, Query on expansion vessel pressure readings... Chap came out due to a boiler fault (Vokera Compact 24), and decided to check the expansion vessel pressure. He couldn't figure out how to drain the boiler pressure locally so went on a hunt for a drain point on a radiator, which there wasn't...
