    Leyland paint

Hi all, gas man doing the decorating here. trying to emulsion my new extension and having a nightmare. Have used leyland before and am struggling with where I'm going wrong. Did a mist coat with 50/50 and two times coats undiluted. It looked really bad on the pitched roof with lots of streaks. I...

Trader put a nail into my underfloor heating

You let a trades person drill into your floor that has underfloor heating? You are accusing the guy of being at fault? Next you will be claiming the underfloor heating installer encouraged you to have people round drilling holes in the floor. I'd be fuming as the joiner.

    School boiler

" I don't hold any commercial qualifications but as I understand it I'm allowed to work on it as there is a isolation/ lever valve between main gas pipework ( 2" screwed steel) and the appliance" As I understand it you don't Lnow what your talking about and are certainly not allowed to do this...

    Wall chase too deep?

You don't need the insulation around the pipes, just tape up to protect the pipe.

    Pitched roof insulation

150mm is 150mm though no? 125 between and 25 beneath can't really be much of a difference at all in u value unless I'm missing something else?

Chasing basin waste and hot and cold pipe into wall

The waste will be 32mm for the sink. I'd be chasing it in all day long. If it's getting dot and dabbed there will be a 10mm ish gap between wall and board also. Pipes effectively need chasing In a very minimal amount. You can't run them external on show and why bother with a boxing in?

    Pitched roof insulation

I'm ready to start insulating the roof of my single storey pitched roof extension. The pitch is 15% and at its widest point the span is 3.55m. We have used marley wessex tiles on 38x25mm batterns on breathable felt sat on 150x50mm (c16) rafters @400mm centres as per the chartered engineers...

Will removing a TRV lead to water leaking?

The head of the trv does un screw and water should not leak out. If the head is already loose and on its highest setting it is goosed! Ps- make sure valve on other side of rad is open to!

Will removing a TRV lead to water leaking?

The most likely cause is that the valve is stuck shut, replacing the head of the valve will make no difference at all. It needs a new valve really but removing the head and lifting the pin up a couple of mm may well get the rad working. You won't be able to use the head again though as when it...

    Problem garages

Right, I need advice on my 160bhp vvc engine in my car. It had hgf a month after purchasing the car and a local garage took the job on. It came back running worse than it went in. I took it back, the timing was out and it was 'pinking' a third party told me. He re timed it and gave it me...

    Why would this happen???

Was the tap that it was connected to loose to some degree? ie would move from left to right while opening and closing the tap a little? The braided metal hose on that flex looks like it has failed through fatigue at that point.

hot water scalding hands on combi boiler

Sounds like a perfectly working boiler to me. If you have ran the hot tap and the temp does not fall to the set temp then there is a fault. my guess would be you are getting a slug of hot water that has been sat in the boiler a while. Does the temp fall to set temp? Your hands are not a...
