    Waterproofing for combination bench/storage box.

Hi All, I have built a garden storage box which has a level sitting (ie, no slope) hinged lid. The lid is constructed from bits of stud work and tongue and groove boards from an old shed. I have designed the storage box to double up as a bench. I now need to find some method of waterproofing...

    30mm pipe into 68mm "T" guttering.

Hi all, I am replacing a 68mm cast iron down guttering pipe with Flopast plastic. The cast iron pipe has an angled T fitting on it. A 30mm (approx) pipe, which I think is lead, from a small flat roof is channelled into the 68mm T piece to allow rain water to run off the flat roof into the down...

    Heating Element for Towel Radiator

Jackrae, I've not heard of thermo syphoning before and don't know what it is but your assertion that, with the pipes feeding vertically, it will be ok gives me comfort. However, what do you mean about the CH boiler pumping water around the circuits at the same time? I think it means that the...

    Heating Element for Towel Radiator

Ericmark, I'm hopeful my sparky will know what he is doing with regards to wiring up. Taylor, the radiator is on the opposite wall to the showerbath so about 1.5mtrs.

How do I post a question?

Hi all, Thanks again to all those who took the time and trouble to post such helpful advice to my (I realise now) silly original question. I have recently discovered that there is a little arrow to the right hand side of the sort of address bar which, when clicked, brings forth a drop down menu...

    Heating Element for Towel Radiator

Hi all, I am confident with plumbing a towel rad into the central heating system which is run off a combi boiler. I am going to install a 600 watt heating element into the towel radiator. A local electrician is going to install a new consumer unit here in September and I hope he will undertake...

How do I post a question?

Thanks a million for that Ban-all-sheds. So when I find the topic needed I then click on "post new thread" and ask away? I haven't checked since seeing your diagram but I'm sure that avenue wasn't available on my laptop (am typing this on smartphone). Thanks again all for taking the time.

How do I post a question?

Cheers Tiger, but as I say the only list of sub topics under forums is Watched Threads, New Posts etc and I've gone through each of these with no success.

How do I post a question?

Thanks for your response Tiger. Unfortunately, the only sub topics I can see under Forums are Watched Threads, New Posts, Watched Posts and others similar. I can't see topics relating to specific trades anywhere. It's doing my head in! Cheers.

How do I post a question?

I have asked questions about DIY on here before but I think the layout of the site has changed since then as I can't find how to post a new question. I've used the search function with key words and specific questions but can't find a relevant answer. Cheers.

Internal brick wall supported by floorboards which have been cut.

Thanks for that Jobandknock, that puts my mind at rest. I have 4 x 2 for the noggins so will go ahead with that but it's good to know it's more than enough rather than not enough. I've just bought a box of Turbo ll 6 x 80 screws from Screwfix. A little over 13 quid for box of 100. Thanks again.

Internal brick wall supported by floorboards which have been cut.

Thinking about it, it has been like that for maybe 30 years so I'll assume it'll be OK. How about I cut the remaining boards off at the edge of the joist furthest from the wall , screw some 4 x 2 flush to the top of the joist and screw the ply into that?

Internal brick wall supported by floorboards which have been cut.

Thanks for your suggestion vinn. The wall is brick. I have stripped the plaster and tiles and it is very definitely brick. "Grab" was the only term I could think of to describe how much of the floorboard is still in touch with the joist. The boards are still been supported by the joist but only...
