Told I have to replace this relatively modern Consumer Unit

Thanks all. So my plan is to reduce the circuits from 13 to 10 myself by disconnecting the alarm spur, merging the smokes onto the lighting and the boiler controls onto a socket circuit. And then get an electrician in to replace the CU with this one, which comfortably fits the space...

Told I have to replace this relatively modern Consumer Unit

Sorry I missed the more recent messages on this thread, just came back as I'm struggling to find a CU that will fit the space (420mm). The installation when the flat was built in 2001 (Berkeley Homes) was a gas boiler which was replaced by an electric boiler in 2016, which I've learned is on...

    Electric wet central heating

That just underlines the importance of not wasting energy.

    Electric wet central heating

I’ve had my gas boiler replaced by an electric one as it was no longer possible to provide a flue meeting regs, actually in 2016 but this is my first time back at the property since then. It’s been installed with the electric boiler doing the wet central heating and also feeding the coil in...

Told I have to replace this relatively modern Consumer Unit

Thanks everyone, time to get a spanking new unit then. Electrician seemed a decent chap but great to get an independent opinion here.

Told I have to replace this relatively modern Consumer Unit

Just had an EICR done for the first time on my flat, built 2001. The circuits are fine but I was surprised to learn there’s no RCD. Naturally I want one installed regardless of the need to pass the EICR, but the electrician is saying it’s necessary to replace the whole consumer unit (pictured)...

    Can you identify these doors?

I'm putting up some stud walls for a new bedroom and looking for doors matching this original one, does anyone recognise it? I visited a new build office that has the same ones recently so they're definitely still being made. Thanks for any tips! IMG_6992 by maxidog posted 4 Oct 2019 at 10:37...

Texecom Premier 24 without engineer's code

Thanks, sounds like a new panel with both com-ip and a GSM module is the way forward.

Texecom Premier 24 without engineer's code

Thanks guys. I read somewhere that COMIP can be made to work with the old panel if you upgrade the firmware, but there was some reason why upgrading wasn't guaranteed to work. It seems like a new panel is a relatively low cost compared to the COMIP, so worth doing anyway. Initially I just...

Texecom Premier 24 without engineer's code

Hi, I've recently bought a house with a Texecom Premier 24 and am looking to install a COM IP (it's about 5 years old with 8.00 firmware). Trouble is, I don't have the engineer's code and the user code I have isn't the master user. I might have to replace the panel with a new Premier Elite...

    Scraping coating off wooden floor

I've just bought a house with a Kahrs engineered wooden floor. The floor is in fine condition, but the previous owner has put a plasticy coating on it which has got dirty and is covered in scratches and worn out patches. I've found that surgical spirit softens the coating really well without...
