    2 gang switch

Awesome - thankyou very much - I didn't even realise the individual switches were modular. I've ordered just the intermediate module as everything else is OK, arriving tomorrow. Thanks again.

    2 gang switch

Thanks for the reply. Oh no - so I've bought the wrong replacement switch! If anyone has time post a link to the correct replacement switch (hopefully with exactly the same connections as the old broken switch so I can just reconnect like to like) that would be much appreciated. Thankyou.

    2 gang switch

Hi all, Great forum. I know similar has been posted but I haven't found this exact situation explained. I'm replacing a 1st floor 2 gang switch as one of the physical switches has snapped. The left hand switch controls the landing lights on floor 2. The right hand switch controls the landing...

    Room thermostat swap

Wired up as recommended at my mum's, all tested and working perfectly. I tested the glide angle of the old danfoss as it was launched toward the bin. Fairly poor ratio. Farewell and thankyou old bi-metallic strip technology. Thanks again for the replies Ian et al.

    Room thermostat swap

Thanks a lot for the responses. I didn't look very closely and assumed the blue wire on my stat was connected to terminal C but it isn't it's just safely isolated/terminated. Terminal C is empty on my honeywell. I think I remember doing that now..... Didn't realise my memory was so bad! Thanks...

    Room thermostat swap

Hi, A couple of years ago I swapped my old style room thermostat for a new digital one (Honeywell DT90E). It works very well and much more accurate than the old one. I now want to do exactly the same swap out at my mums house. She lives in the same style newish build house as me on the same...

Considering going to unvented system boiler

Hello, I have just moved house, having a v powerful shower is an important factor for us. In the old house we had a vented gravity fed system (big water tank in loft) and I installed an Aqualisa Quartz Digital pumped shower (has processor / pump in loft which fed mixed thermostatic water down...

Correct material for blocking hole in house wall.

Hi, I have replaced a 1st floor bathroom. The old toilet had an overflow pipe from the top of the cistern which went out through a hole in the house wall (hole went through cavity wall ie through inner blockwork then cavity and then through outer brick to the outside of the house). The new...

USG sheetrock / corner tape / filling compound etc.

Hi, Yep american products and terms. Not seen them in the shops here but seen their marketing on youtube and there seems to be a UK/europe distributor: http://www.sheetrockdirect.com/ Just interested if anyone thinks these products or their B&Q equivalents (if available) are a viable...

USG sheetrock / corner tape / filling compound etc.

Hello, I've had a quick search / browse so hopefully I'm not duplicating too many previous questions. I'm pretty new to any DIY that requires knowledge of / removal / selection / purchasing / prepping plasterboard but am hoping to do a bathroom project which I know will involve installing...

    Water tank drip problem (overflow?)

Hi, my plumbing knowledge it pretty limited. I have a 10 year old Bryant home  There is a water tank in the loft (cold I think) covered in plastic wrapping. Theres a long pipe (~3cm diameter) coming out of it which exits the house just under the guttering on the edge of the roof...

    Skimming ceilings

Thanks a lot for the replies all. Quite a co-incidence Fred, I'm in Cheshire also (Lymm to be more precise). I may consider doing the flooring too at the same time as I understand your point about having to mask the floor being time consuming. The ceilings are in good nick with minimal light...

    Skimming ceilings

Hi, I am about to move into a 10 year old house and one thing I hate is the little swirls on the ceilings throughout. Not sure if this is strictly artex as the swirls are not really deep (perhaps only 3mm raised). I'd be very grateful if someone could tell me what my options are for getting...
