I found using a grinder fitted with a poly disc removed all rust and flaking paint with ease. Two discs used on a standard 600gal tank.
So much easier than a wire brush. Treated any suspect rust areas with a rust treament/convertor, then painted with Hammerite.
Normally this solution will...
Have had the 4th engineer quoting for a replacment condensing Grant boiler.
The chap who came round last night was the first to raise the issue of heat exchanger rot.
He said, if softened water (from a normal dometic softner) in conjunction with inhibitor is used, the solution is slightly...
Our very old open flue oil boiler needs replacing. It's rated output is 28~32kw. Prob a Band 'F'.
An installation engineer came round and he mentioned since new boilers are more effiecient I could consider going down one size in burner output to something like a Worcester Bosch 18/25. That'll...
After approx 23yrs, it's time to replace the current Trianco 28/32 Kw Redfyre. With technology changing a lot in those years I'm looking for recommendations on what's a) a reliable replacement make, b) efficient, and c) easy to install (can hire the flue analyser for setting CO value)
Presently have a conventional Trianco 28/32 Redfyre oil boiler with 5" non balanced flue, which is surrounded by a stainless steel outer wall. It runs approx 2m vertical from boiler into loft space then 45deg elbow then 2m at an angle then 45deg elbow, then finally 1.5m vertical out through the...
Not sure, but fires with pilot light are sometimes fitted with a thermo couple. The pilot light's heat keeps the couple on. As soon as couple losses heat, it's cuts the gas supply. Couples cost a few quid from places like Screwfix etc.
Perhaps the motor is shot. Or sometimes the capacitor that sits on the side of motor. Should be able to buy a capacitor off eBay for not alot of money.
If motor does not turn, system will not purge and this results in no firing up.
It all started about 14mths ago, when the red lock out would intermittently happen. Then this became more frequent but still random, so photocell was changed. All okay for months, but lockout happened on xmas day  . After turning off the mains and checking the photocell, the boiler did...
I have same motor on a late 80's Trianco TR028/32 Bolier.
The motor failed at the weekend.
Bought a replacment EOGB MOTOR 90W M0219012 INTER 10 11 12 99 109 which simply 'plugged' in without any hassle.
My question is, under normal running conditions, how hot should the back of the motor...
Where I live we have loads of moss growing on a the piched roof... some seem as tall as tower block !!!
A good spray with 4.5 litres warm water mixed with 500g of soda crystals bought from supermarket seems to kill the moss off after a few weeks then keeps it from re-growing again.
GU10 also available with xenon gas... much brighter, which can be turned down with a dimmer.
Most std dimmers handle between 60 and 400w range. But there are domsectic dimmers which go up to 600w or 1000w.
In terms of energy a 50w LV lamp uses the same power as a 50w GU10 lamp.
Buy GU10s...
A pin hole lens means camera can be hidden behind vent or installed in a most any other object.
Camera's output with normally be composite 1vpp 75 ohm, so most any DVR with composite or SCART input will suffice.
For night time go for an infrared light of no less the 920nm which is invisible...
Excuse my ignorance...what is tanking?
I've a new shower enclosure to install and the current wall have been water damaged for yrs... so I guess any more premanenet solution would be best sorted now.
