OK so - for everyones interest, this was in fact due to the gas safety inspection!! The RGI had reduced the water pressure for the boiler during the inspection. He has now increased it again and all of a sudden the shower has sprang back to life.

Completely agree that this is what it sounds like, just seemed very coincidental!

Hi, Thanks for your reply. The boiler is a potterton heatmax. Just for clarity - the temperature dial certainly makes a difference to the output hot temperature, just not to the shower.

Thats great riveralt thanks for your advice. There was indeed an isolator switch but that was removed during bathroom refit. I'll just leave it switched off for now, then get an electrician in to make the circuit fully safe. Thanks again.

Its a "Contactum" consumer unit. Its fitted with an RCCB only as far as I can see. The MCBs say "Geyer" on the front.

Hi all, I have just had an electric shower removed and a thermostatic shower put in its place. Currently, I have just switched off the MCB for the shower circuit to make the circuit dead. How do I go about replacing the MCB with a blanking plate to permanently kill this circuit...

Hi, I dont think so actually....had a quick look and doesnt look like it. I think I was thinking about Japanese knotweed, but its not that either. The "Japanese" bit could be a complete red herring!!!

Hi guys, Difficult to advise without seeing this obviously, but a bit of general advise would be appreciated. Basically, there is a tree growing from under the party wall of my terraced house, just to the neighbours side. Its one of those "weed" trees, I think they are called a Japanese...
