Remove Door and window beneath lintel to create opening

Correct, I am not hitting it direct on like you would a nail in a wall for example. The brick has a smooth surface so I could get large sheets of it off at once. The lintel on the other hand looks to have been casted in onsite when the house was built. The surface face of the concrete...

Remove Door and window beneath lintel to create opening

Lol not quite, just bolster and hammer. The render has stuck so well to the face of the lintel, its a huge ballache to get it off. Got the rest of the render off the brick work this afternoon in 30 mins, just the remaining over the lintel for now.

Remove Door and window beneath lintel to create opening

Thanks for your reply - regarding the socket that will be relocated into the right wall of the porch, got an electrician who can do that. Ok so i thought id chip off some more of the render today on the exterior wall - see images below. The render comes off in nice big slabs on the brick work...

Hi Guys, So to give you an overview, 1930 semi-detached property with solid wall (no cavity) - I have had a porch built in front of the original exterior wall, door and window of the house. The porch has been built to the spec of a proper extension, insulated floor, insulated cavity wall and...

Drafty suspended wooden floor void upstairs (1st floor)

Thanks for the link but i think they are referring to the ground floor and not the 1st floor. Please see below an image of what I am proposing to the ends of all voids at the external walls on the upstairs floors. I appreciate that normally this floor void needs ventilation as...

Drafty suspended wooden floor void upstairs (1st floor)

Yes but and they have been answered. For example i have put the floor insulation above the bathroom. I used 10cm thick insulation and thus there is still a ~6cm gap in the void above and all cables sit on top of the insulation and thus air can still pass. my main issue and question i have not...

Drafty suspended wooden floor void upstairs (1st floor)

Hi there, I have a 1930s semi-detached house which i recently purchased. I have discovered that there is a draft in the 1st floor/ground floor ceiling void which can make the floor cold and also draft up into the rooms from the skirting. This house has solid brick work so is not the drafts...

Drafty upstairs suspended wooden floor semi-detached house

Hi there, I have pulled up the floor boards close to the external wall on one bedroom and sealed any gaps I could find where air could be coming in through the brick work. Can I use celotex board cut to the size of each joist to act as a second seal within the floor. My only worry is that...

    Conservatory roof and guttering questions

Hi all, I recently purchased a house which has a conservatory. With the heavy rain and blustery winds I have managed to discover a few some-what “minor” issues. Why the conservatory to my surprise does warm up pretty well and keeps the heat in for an acceptable time I noticed a draft from...
