    Don't want wallpaper!

Its probably not exactly like a plastered wall but has a nice smooth finish and ideal for painting over.. I put about 2 coats of undercoat just out of preference and it looks great.. One thing to also consider if you go along this route is which way to paste the paper on the wall.. i did it...

    Don't want wallpaper!

Do what Dazb suggested i did this although with 1000 guage paper.. and it works real well.. but i made some slight mistakes of overlapping in a couple of places and that shows! as a rule of thumb a small gap is better than an overlap (the filler works great!).

    plaster

depends mainly on the size of the holes, but you are probably better off getting the one coat plaster as its much more easier to work with.

    Hire or buy?

True probably never going to drill that big holes that often, although i imagined that the blackspur bits would probably only last about a couple of uses. I think what i was thinking was would it be cost effective to buy a cheap drill like the one in screwfix (2nd reply) and bits as to hire...

    Hire or buy?

I need to drill a few holes through a brick wall, 1x50mm and two 110mm, was thinking of hiring an sds drill and diamond core bits to go with it.. or could i get away with buying the blackspur drill bits and using a standard hammer drill? Your thoughts/recommendations?
