    Penetration or condensation.

I just thought l would have a closer look at one of the leaky windows and found a section of the 'pointing' underneath the sill is just a skim over a load of expanding foam. You can see the gap in the frame silicon in the other image. I also found he had got sealant all up the wall and dumped all...

    Penetration or condensation.

Im having a bit of a disagreement with my builder over what he says is condensation but Im fairly sure is penetrative damp. We have a 1960s block and brick walled chalet bungalow which originally had single glazed wooden windows throughout. We replaced the ones on the southwest elevation...

    Warm/Cold/Tepid roof

Problem solved - when I finally got into the extension roof which joins onto the main house roof its a cold roof with ventilated loft space. That will be where the draughts are coming from. Guess its over joist insulation and write off any loft storage.

    Warm/Cold/Tepid roof

I have a 1960s chalet bungalow which Im looking to enhance the insulation in as it currently is a major source of global warming. Thing is im not sure what is going to be my best approach in insulating it as it has insulation over the rafters as well as over the ceiling in the loft space...

fitting fence panels to chain link posts

I really want to avoid drilling into the posts because there seems to be a lot of rebar and mesh in them close to the surface. Im happy to reuse the holes that were cast in but with only a single row of holes through the posts I cant really use panel clips which need to be fixed at two points to...

fitting fence panels to chain link posts

Thx. The other problem with this is that posts are set at 6ft so 3x2 battens will leave me 4in too short for standard panels. I dont fancy having to chop and build a pallet load of closeboard- although I could justify a nailgun of the back of it. :) I think I may have to go and try a couple of...

    Venting a flat roof

sorry to drag this rather old thread up again but Im faced with exactly this situation in converting my new garage into my workshop/mancave/shrine to makita. I need to vent the 50mm gap above the ceiling insulation on a cold deck flat roof. I would go whole hog and do a EPDM warm roof but the...

fitting fence panels to chain link posts

well here goes first post please be gentle.. I have a new garden that needs the fence replacing on two sides (@40m ea side). Both sides currently have random disintegrating fence panels set between concrete posts every 6ft. The posts are sound and have a good 6ft out of the ground but they...
