    Replacing Ceiling Light

Hi Sunray thanks a lot. Just to be sure, do you mean the uninsulated wire is the Earth? 'cos that was connected to the neutral terminal on the light fitting, so it was wired up incorrectly? The live red wire from the ceiling hole goes to the brown positive block, the two connected together in...

    Replacing Ceiling Light

Hi I'm puzzled by this. I am replacing a spotlight fitting with a standard ceiling pendant. The connections on the old light fitting are like this. The wires from the ceiling are like this. The Red wire was connected to the wire marked live, the uninsulated wire to the neutral and the third...

How on earth do you fit / remove these b*****y things?

Problem is even with them twisted round, (and that's no easy task) so the open end of the U is pointing down they still won't pull up over the pipe! The diameter is too big for the opening to pass over the radiator pipe. I can't pull them out as they foul on the thermostatic valve. I've got them...

How on earth do you fit / remove these b*****y things?

Can anyone identify these fittings for the radiator end panels and how do they work? Do they pull off, Twist off or do you need a tool to remove them. They are driving me mad can't seem to get them off or on easily to decorate. Thanks

    Flaking paint how to disguise?

Hi looks like someone has painted thick paint on new plaster (Photo) I've stripped paper off and it's left this mess. It's in a prominent place above fireplace and dotted around the room. However the plaster is a good finish and I would prefer to paint rather than paper. How can I blend / fill...

I have these black / grey either slate or granite slabs laid in the garden by previous owner. They are 80x20 cm not sure what the material is slate or granite but I'm pretty certain it's non porous. They have come loose from the wall as you can see. How can I attach them? I have looked up and...

    Changing a circuit breaker

Harry B. It's these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/mye/myebay/rvi?_trkparms=pageci%3A0b9f1986-56b8-11ec-8419-ca8cc65fa2d6%7Cparentrq%3A90bdd9f517d0a7448527f7d5fff934ec%7Ciid%3A1 Proteus Geyer S20B. It looks pretty old and there is no 'top part' as far I can see so I think it's a MCB.

    Changing a circuit breaker

That's a good idea much simpler, so if the other circuit doesn't work I know it's the RCB.

    Changing a circuit breaker

Hi The electrics have gone to my garage. It has it's own mini consumer unit with a 6 amp and a 16 amp circuit breaker. When I presss the test button nothing happens so I presume there is no power getting to it at all. All the house electrics are working except this. It runs from a Proteus Geyer...

    Veritas 8 AlarmHi

Thanks that explains your earlier statement about Zone 7 being for the panic alarm. At least I've found it now! Does the key switch the alarm on and off or is it just to prevent the panic alarm from being accidently pressed? Granny
