Have you ever changed a tyre on a scooter ?

I changed one on a Vespa in about 1955 but it was a crossply and can't remember how difficult it was. Peter

Stihl HT 75 chain not oiling.

Cleaned sawdust out of pump - fine now. They sent me the wrong chain even though I had specified 64 links, so I thought I would change the sprocket and use it, cheaper than sending the chain back, but of course the bar is different as well so I had to get the pico chain and change it all back...

You won't save much by running it on LPG at the moment the price is horrendous. Peter

Stihl HT 75 chain not oiling.

Well it fits John, otherwise I don't know. I think it said something about a 'pico' chain. Peter

Stihl HT 75 chain not oiling.

Could be that John but I have had all sorts of chains before and not had a problem. The chain looks and feels sharp although it looks different to the chain on my other 12" saw. I wondered if it needs a smaller file, the one I use for the other saw is a bit of a tight fit but I found a couple of...

Stihl HT 75 chain not oiling.

Fixed the oiler but still have a problem. The chain was supposed to be new and it looks it but it only cuts halfway through a branch then smokes trying to cut through the second half and does very little cutting, in fact I have had it stuck in the tree two or three times. I have cut down from...

Stihl HT 75 chain not oiling.

Never had a problem with my ordinary Stihl but this one has a different system. I've got the pump out now and it is indeed clogged with sawdust. Peter

Stihl HT 75 chain not oiling.

That video was the right one John, only judging by the repairers hands it probably had more sawdust in it when he finished than when he started. Yes that's the pump on your link. The removal instructions on the video were very useful Peter

Stihl HT 75 chain not oiling.

Thanks for the video, normally the first place I look - getting old! Hi John, thought I might see you, hope you are well and thanks for the info. Peter

Stihl HT 75 chain not oiling.

There appears to be a non return valve between the reservoir and chain case, have cleared it but still no oil. It doesn't appear to have a pump, at least if it does I can't see it. Can anyone help? Thanks. Peter.

Any recommendations for an online oil seller?

Since I discovered 'Mannol' I have used nothing else. Very cheap with a good spec. Peter

    Coil spring compressors.

That's one way of doing it.:) Peter

    Coil spring compressors.

I think probably most of them do it, I have two pairs and both of them do. the stress under tension causes the threaded part to bend. They might make some thicker ones, haven't seen any but they might be a bit cumbersome. Have a look on Ebay, they have most things on there. Peter

You know you are getting old when......

I still have a few of those 'Thermostart' units as Perkins called them, in a draw in the garage, from my diesel conversion days. They used to have a little reservoir to supply the fuel, but I found they worked just as well if you plumbed them into the low pressure fuel supply. Peter
