Good evening, hope everyone in DIYnot land is keeping well!
Just seen that Siemens have announced they will be stopping producing all wiring accessories sold under the Crabtree, Volex and Appleby brands at the end of this year.
I used to install nothing but Appleby boxes as they used to be...
I've used a Henry with the hepa-flo bags for years and it works brilliantly. The hardest task it has to deal with is when it's connected to my wall chasing machine which creates a huge amount of very fine dust. it can keep up for about a metre of chasing and then I have to turn it off, give it a...
Well it’s been a little while since I last posted a picture of the week but had an exciting event at work today and though you might all enjoy it!
I was plugging in this 400A feeder when the end popped right off!!
This is at flys level but on the opposite side of the stage to where the flys are operated from.
The current temporary touring install comprises of about 200 individual 16A circuit mostly run on 6 circuit socapex cables and 5120 channels of control data.
Our supplies are 400A three phase for...
Hey all. I don’t post on here so much these days due to a change in circumstances but just thought I’d share with you a picture of one of my most recent installations. Hope you enjoy! (This isn’t a wind up by way!)

The symptom is that the RCBO trips most times when the lights are switched off in one of the rooms. The lights switch on fine and stay on...
Star drills had just about disappeared when I started out but my main job as an apprentice was knocking out back boxes with a lump hammer and sash knife. We eventually got all modern when we upgraded to a scutch chisel
Yeah I’ve got one but I’ve never liked using it. It just doesn’t feel like the proper way to do things but maybe that’s me being old fashioned.

No not sure but I’m sure I’ll find out. I want to try and avoid lifting the floor as it’s glued chipboard sheet.
I will see if she’s keeping the oxo dispenser if not I’ll have to auction it off on here
I don’t do so much installation these days so just thought it would be good to get a sanity check to make sure I’m not overthinking things! And well remembered @Adam_151 it is a memera2000 CU with type A RCD although it’s 16th edition split load not RCBOs!
