I have 2 fluorescant lights in the garage. 1 tube is a marked Ring Energy Saver 36w white the other is GE F36w/35. Both the tubes are "cloudy" in the middle and dimmer compared to the ends. So I thought it was time to replace them. I got today some new tubes. They didnt have white, so I got warm...

    12v transformer for downlight

that's what I thought got a new one from tlc-direct at medway. Gone up there tonight and found the wire from the transformer just above the light holder to be very brittle. So much so that it snapped in my hands, breaking one of the wires. Quick cut and clean connection later to the connector...

    which pump

I too have a 3 bar pump. The problem is that it drains the cold water tank in the loft completely, (its a standard 50 gallon(?)), and the boiler cant really keep up. So as its given up the ghost now, I'm too looking for a pump. The En-suite I have as a 1.5 bar New Team one and it provides the...

I have one light that is a 12v 50W downlight. Its transformer is in the loft. One night the light output varied from the bulb randomly and after a few hours the bulb stopped working. I have replaced the bulb with a known working bulb and it does not work. A single switch controls this single...

Soffit and Fascia replacement - replace or over clad?

Many thank oilman and Eddie M. I never known anybody to overclad, hence my question. The wood is in good condition, however if not being replaced it would need a good rub down and paint and without a ladder and me not likely heights cladding seems the better option, as we have moved into the...

Soffit and Fascia replacement - replace or over clad?

I'm speechless. However, my question still remains. Overclad or replace? Clearly replace costs more, but what are the advantages of overlcadding to replacing? Many thanks.

    Aqualisa power shower temperature problem

Pump given up totally now. Even when the mixer tap is off and no water is flowing, the pump is pumping water. (or trying too). So I think a replacement is in order now.

But is to over clad the wood better than to replace with cladding (removing the wood)?

Double Glazing being fitted now and I have a question

One window is has a 2 inch gap at the top inside . However because of the tiles on the outside, that end just above the window, you cannot see this (from the outside). They say cos of the trickle vent (which is in the frame) cannot be behind the tiles outside, the window has to finsh 2 inches...

Washer Dryer - Dryer not working

That's a real shame. And that;s why I also dropped him a small amount for a beer or too, as if people paid a small amount for his time, he feels it worth doing. Unfortunately so many people are willing to take advice and not pay for it.... I cant help any more.

Washer Dryer - Dryer not working

Ask on the other forum. He's a good guy (and has W/M experience), and I thanked him for getting my machine dryer working with a paypal donation. Was cheaper than a call out guy/new machine.

Washer Dryer - Dryer not working

I have the same machine: If its the case the drum moves but there is no heat? >There are two thermistors inside. I would guess one of these have blown. Both have to work. The other problem I had was that the screws holding the pipe from the heater to the in let of the drum had worked...
