    Electric cooker, random operation

Hi, My (admittedly old) electric cooker is playing up. Sometimes it works fine, but on other (seemingly unpredictable) occasions, it fires up (either hobs, grill, or oven) fine but dies after a few minutes. At other times, the hobs/grill don't get up to full temperature and the oven...

Want shower but not sure which type???

I'd love a power shower, but thought there was some issue with me having mains cold and gravity fed hot?

Want shower but not sure which type???

Hi all, I'm wanting to install (or have installed) a shower. Space is a constraint so it will have to be over the bath (no separate cubicle). My system is gravity fed for the hot water and doesn't have a header tank (the cold comes straight from the mains). CH is pumped if that's of any...

Is it possible to fit a pump to the HW supply?

Hmm, have just found one on "screwfix" for about £250 which looks pretty good to me. It has all the installation details there, including pressure requirements. Is there a device I can buy to check the pressure?

Is it possible to fit a pump to the HW supply?

To be honest, I only found out about them yesterday.. Are they shockingly expensive?

Is it possible to fit a pump to the HW supply?

Aside from an electric or vernturi shower, are there any other reasonable options open to me?

Is it possible to fit a pump to the HW supply?

No, mixer doesn't have a thermostat :( If the pump were connected only to the mixer tap feed, then would wifey's kitchen antics make a difference to the pumped water's pressure?

Is it possible to fit a pump to the HW supply?

Thanks for the replies. The system is a gravity fed system with HW tank in the airing cupboard. CH has a pump for it, but no pump for the HW at the moment. One complication is that the cold water feed is direct from the mains (from what I can tell as there isn't a header tank anywhere)...

Is it possible to fit a pump to the HW supply?

My mains water pressure for cold is fine and would have sufficient force to be used in a shower, sadly the hot water pressure is rubbish and doesn't have enough force to travel the required height. My bath has a mixer tap with a shower head attachmet, so I was wondering whether it would be...

    Clearing sludge?

Thanks! This has got a "call a heating engineer" feel about it. Any ideas how much I should expect to pay to have the boiler serviced at the same time?

    Clearing sludge?

Hi all, Thanks for your help so far with the cold radiators :( Last night I bled all of the radiators that I could (some are painted shut..) and also bled the pump and checked the impellor for roatation. The water from the radiators is black. All was looking pretty good and the first...

HW but no CH - Central Heating Problem

Apologies Tony, you're quite correct, the pump was indeed circa £50, and yes I am a DIY-er. I was trying to be helpful as the problem sounded like an issue I had around a year ago, that you kind folks helped me resolve. Using your help I did change the pump myself, and found it pretty easy to...

    Bleeding pump and freezing rads

Hi all, System is gravity fed with a pump for the CH. Pump was replaced in February this year (Grundfos). At the moment, most of the radiators (I have 5) are begining to get warm but after about 15 mins I get a squealling noise from the pump (turn of and on again to re-set) and radiators...
