I don't want to follow the stair pitch underneath it will be boarded straight down the line of the newel post vertically - bit I can't work out is where it meets the trimmer etc to the left side because of the step up on the landing.

Why not? I have extended a ring to two new sockets, new cable from existing socket, in and out of the new sockets then back to the JB to reconnect to the ring. Are you suggesting this is wrong? Thanks for reply and as for the 100mm not really sure other than all of the internal walling etc is specced at the same - I guess flexi rockwool slab at 100mm is quite a bit cheaper than 50mm kingspan or similar and space isn't a huge concern. Now just need to get my head around insulation...
