    Boarding/finishing under loft staircase

I don't want to follow the stair pitch underneath it will be boarded straight down the line of the newel post vertically - bit I can't work out is where it meets the trimmer etc to the left side because of the step up on the landing.

    Boarding/finishing under loft staircase

Looking for a bit of advice/ideas for a solution to an awkward but of boarding and finishing needed under a new winder staircase that I've installed as part of loft conversion. Image by scoobasteve posted 7 Dec 2015 at 8:28 PM Image by scoobasteve posted 7 Dec 2015 at 8:27 PM Image by...

    Double Winder Stair Install Query

Hi All, Hoping someone can help me with what i'm guessing is a common issue, I'm part way through a loft conversion (Steel work all in and joists going in this week) and I'm ready to order a staircase. It will be a double winder (Top and Bottom 3 steps) which will be going into a rectangular...

    Live neutral wire in socket

Yes clearly not! Like I said sparky was coming to connect new sockets back up I just wanted to be able to put the power back on so the exiting sockets would still work (as 2 radials) which led to the issue with the neutral. Can I just ask after looking up 'dead testing' would a spark carry...

    Live neutral wire in socket

Why not? I have extended a ring to two new sockets, new cable from existing socket, in and out of the new sockets then back to the JB to reconnect to the ring. Are you suggesting this is wrong? Admittedly a new length of cable to the next existing socket on ring would have been 'better' but only...

    Live neutral wire in socket

Hi, This is going to be sorted by an electrician tomorrow but is puzzling me tonight! Started fitting a new kitchen today, part of job running cables in for 2 new sockets in existing ring. Took one of the T+E from existing socket and connected to a JB, T+E from JB to new socket 1, T+E...

    Velux flashing installation query

Cheers - can't get a pic right now but will try in morning. It's not the full top flashing I can see just the bottom corners - everything above the windows is covered with slate its just either side of the window from level with top down to bottom of the top flashing piece is over the slate...

    Velux flashing installation query

Sorry I thought I was seeking fairly simple advice from someone on here who may install velux regularly as to whether the flashing around top of window 'should' be under the slate or not. :D Re. your concern over me choosing Marley Eternits (like a large proportion of the population) -...

    Velux flashing installation query

Hi All, I'm currently having mid-terrace roof replaced (original slate replaced with Eternits) and 4 velux installed in prep for starting loft conversion. I have a query with how the flashings have been installed on the 2 windows at the back of the house, the correct flashing kits have...

    Loft conversion/staircase/gable wall insulation

Thanks for reply and as for the 100mm not really sure other than all of the internal walling etc is specced at the same - I guess flexi rockwool slab at 100mm is quite a bit cheaper than 50mm kingspan or similar and space isn't a huge concern. Now just need to get my head around insulation...

    Loft conversion/staircase/gable wall insulation

Hi, I'm in early planning stages of starting a full loft conversion (New roof going on next week with Velux windows installed is step 1!) I've had plans done for the conversion and part of the insulation specification is that the gable walls (Mid terrace) must be insulated with 100mm of...
