Guys. My new chrome arcitrave switch arrived last week and I've come to fit it today. The back box is about 5mm longer add a few mm wider. Do these type of switches not follow a standard form factor like full sized 1 gang switches? Ideally i just wanted to repalce the switch. I'm happy to...
Yep, I agree... the tin snips might have come out :P.... I think putting a single gang switch in while is possible, it would have probably been very faffy. The saving grace is this switch is not in eye shot of another switch so a slight difference will not be easy to detect. I think only I...
Yes it is. The picture is not very good at showing the dimensions. From the edge of the wall the edge of the oven carcass is about 120mm, so there would be room for a standard switch but it would be cosy. I've run a knew bead of caulk as the previous owners could not paint for **** and has...
Thanks for replies guys. Event the squabbling.... I managed to catch it. :P
I think there are two possible reasons an architrave switch was installed.
1. Space. The kitchen units and wiring were both installed by the same building when the house was built. From the edge of the last unit the...
Guys,
As I decorate a room I'm swapped all my plastic (and yellowed) sockets and switches to nice chrome ones. I've bought every switch and socket for the house in bulk so they all match.
However, the kitchen has a small architrave switch near the end of the wall. I cannot get an...
I've found the answer I needed anyway here:

I'm happy to say I was wrong on my wiring, that is why I was happy to do the research before attempting it depending on my level of confidence or getting person in to do...
Hi guys
I'm in the processes of swapping my out my Vaillant VRT 360F to Nest.
Currently the Vaillant VRT controls my ecoTec 831 boiler over the eBus connection. When the Nest is installed, is it a just a case of unplugging the eBus connection from the boilers board? Nothing needs changing...
Hi guys,
I would appreciate just a check over to make sure my thinking is correct before I start the installation of my shiny new Nest V3 thermostat. I've done my research but I wanted to document my thoughts in one place:
My current ecoTec831 is controlled by a Vaillant VRT360 wireless...
Yes, as you look at the door, it is the left (lock) and side and towards that is rubbing.
I have put my level on the en suite wall which is level. Both side of the door frame is level. The bits that are out is the top of the door frame, that slopes towards the en suite where is catches the...
All the fixing are tight, there are no cracks in any of the walls around the door. The floor feels solid in the en-suite and around the door. I've have took a picture the door and as you can see, it is only just catching on the left hand side.
