Have encountered this problem before and it turned out to be corrosion where the earth strap bolts onto the front of the gearbox. A quick clean up and normal service was resumed.

My sentiments exactly. All these things cause me to swear very loudly!

Just put the old hub nuts back on, they'll be fine.

Thanks for your comments guys. I'm gonna go for it and try the repair. Might as well, nothing to lose except time. Reckon some of the other bits might be resellable on ebay anyway, burner, pump etc....so might as well get it stripped down. I'll see how it goes anyway and post the results.

Before you wind the piston back in the caliper, pull the seal back with a small screwdriver and spray some WD40 or penetrating oil around the seal. Makes it so much easier to wind piston in and minimises the risk of damaging the seal.
