Do you think it possible to replace a concealed shower from the back?

It is a Kartell K-VIT Element shower. I have been told by a local plumber that he contacted them and was told they no longer make this unit or sell parts. Searching online you can find sellers of this unit but from what I can tell they have changed the design so the front now looks different. I...

Do you think it possible to replace a concealed shower from the back?

Not yet cut into the wall to expose the shower and pipework from reverse but have attached a picture of the front for reference. I do but they are quite large, maybe 600 x 200mm, and the location of the front valves cover two tiles, one of which goes behind the glass screen creating the shower...

Do you think it possible to replace a concealed shower from the back?

Hi We have a concealed shower that has seized and no longer in production to get replacement parts. I have contacted a few plumbers over the last few months and none are interested in doing the job so I need to do this myself. I do not want to damage the tiles from the front and we can easily...

    Flue venting over boundary

UPDATE: The neighbour has now had the flue moved and taken down the scaffolding so we can see the new wall without obstruction. To our amazement the neighbour has still left a small copper pipe that bends back on itself protruding from the wall over the boundary. I am told this is most likely a...

    Flue venting over boundary

UPDATE: Building control confirmed the neighbour will comply with regulations and the neighbour has been in contact to confirm they are going to move the boiler and vent through their roof instead. Relationships have been patched up. Thanks.

    Flue venting over boundary

Thanks everyone. Sounds like we can deal with this via Building Control or Gas Safe. We don't know the name of the installer but I guess Gas Safe can make their own enquiries with the neighbour if we report the installation address. Thanks again.

    Flue venting over boundary

Do you know if the local planning department would consider this a breach of planning as this is part of an extension under a full planning application they approved?

Broadband speed question, are Mbits the same as mbps - am I getting the speed I paid for?

Thanks for the advice above. So we should be seeing 300 to 1000 Mbps on the speed test I ran if the network is operating at full speed. If I use my iPhone on Wi-Fi I get 93 down and 69 up. If I plug a 3 month old Windows 11 PC direct into the router with a 2 metre CAT6 cable I still get 100 up...

    Flue venting over boundary

A neighbour is venting a new boiler flue through their side wall (which sits on the boundary) into our side path above 2.1metres high. We asked them not to but they did it anyway. We have asked building regs to investigate as this is a new side extension being done under building control. We are...

Broadband speed question, are Mbits the same as mbps - am I getting the speed I paid for?

So it looks like the contract is quoted in MBits (Bits) when more commonly broadband speeds are quoted in Mbps (Bytes) so I need to move the decimal point 1 place in the contract figures. Thanks all.

Broadband speed question, are Mbits the same as mbps - am I getting the speed I paid for?

I tested on a wired PC using Chrome and the Google tool that comes up when you search 'speed test'. There are other PC's and phones connected. This is what we get:

Broadband speed question, are Mbits the same as mbps - am I getting the speed I paid for?

Hi We just changed our office broadband to a full fibre connection and the contract states an 'Assured Symmetrical speed 300 - 1000Mbit/s; Max Contention 50:1'. When I run a speed test we get 100mbps download and 100mbs download. This is plenty fast enough for what we do but should we be...

Builder filled outside of steel with celotex, is this right?

Thanks everyone, that has set my mind at rest. Much appreciated.

Builder filled outside of steel with celotex, is this right?

Hi all I think I know the answer but… my builder has filled the steel over the bifold opening with celotex. This is on the outside. I assume he has done the same on the inside but this has been plaster-boarded. It is being rendered so won’t be seen but shouldn’t it be brick or block? See...
