What are these details called and what are they made of?

Hello, in the picture below, what is the highlighted detail called? I don't think it's part of a lintel (but I may be wrong). And what material is it made of? Thanks

Hello, The original windows in the old section of our Victorian house have arched lintels, but the new windows in the recently-built extension have straight windows.... In the old section, a previous owner fitted straight windows and (somehow) covered and rendered the arched portions. The...

Best compound to use when fixing blown plaster

That’s definitely plaster, it was applied after a damp treatment. It’s the salt resistant type. The walls were only stripped up to 1.5m from the floor. Damp company did a terrible job and have refused to answer my calls/emails. thanks for the suggestion, I will look into that kind of filler

However, looking at how the DPM under the floor was not connected to the wall's DPC when it was installed...

Help figure out what is going on under my floor

Hello, I have noticed some funny things going on under the floor of our recently bought house, which was originally built in 1905. Eventually I will rip out the old floor and replace it but I would like to understand (as much as possible) what is going on under it without taking it off. I...

    Dodgy chimney stack support?

Did you have to consult a structural engineer before fitting the gallows brackets? Tbh I wouldn't mind having the whole bloody thing removed, then I could get rid of the chimney breast in the bedroom to free up some space. It's a shared stack but the neighbour says he's not interested in having...
