    Veritas alarm issue

Yay it works after switching off at mains and back on again, although I've done that at least 5 times today without any luck, for some reason on this occasion everything burst back into life and I was able to reset and stop the flashing light on the outside siren. Many thanks for your help.

    Veritas alarm issue

OK I get that but it's done this several times before and I've always been able to reset the system. I've just taken the cover off again and this time the alarm didn't even start going! I can get a new battery tomorrow but I'm not sure that will make a difference as the keypad still won't allow...

    Veritas alarm issue

Yes it is, but removing it doesn't make any difference, the alarm sets off when I take the panel cover off and removing the battery doesn't do anything. There's definitely something odd with the keypad though, it just doesn't respond as normal when you press the keys. The neighbours are gonna...

    Veritas alarm issue

Hi there we have a veritas alarm and a backup battery that is shot so when we have a power cut the alarm kicks off almost straight away. We live with that. Am I right in thinking that if we remove the backup battery this would not make any difference ie it would not stop it ringing. Anyway I...

Beko dishwasher top arm not spinning

Hi just an update on this - so I purchased a new arm and the first wash - bingo - it was rotating nicely and all the dishes on the top rack were clean - hooray. However since then it has been a bit hit and miss at best - most of the time the top rack is still pretty dirty - even though the arm...

Beko dishwasher top arm not spinning

Further research suggests it could be the inlet valve that is faulty. A suggested test is to wait until the water has supposedly filled and then open the door and pour extra in to see if that forces the required pressure to spin the arm. Will give that a go.

Beko dishwasher top arm not spinning

Thanks Ken for your reply. Just on that point about pushing it into the top arm housing - yes it's a flexible seal type thing - about the size of a 1p I guess, but exactly the diameter of that top arm housing - I might be being a bit dense here but surely I can't just push it into there, it...

Beko dishwasher top arm not spinning

We have a Beko DFN16210W dishwasher which has started to leave all items in the top rack dirty. Upon closer inspection I have found this to be due to the top arm not rotating. I have taken it off and cleaned it thoroughly, and water freely comes out of the holes but it just does not spin. The...

Replacing cartridge for Mira 415 Combiforce shower

Hi all, we have a Mira Combiforce 415 BIV shower which we have had for a number of years. Just lately the shower head has been dripping when the control is off. I have read this is likely to be the cartridge at fault (I can't understand how it could be the washer in the hose to head connector as...

    Disconnecting shower/capping pipework

Thanks for your reply, I don't believe it is a valve, unfortunately.

    Disconnecting shower/capping pipework

We have an old Mira Sport shower in a downstairs bathroom which we no longer use. However I've noticed there is water leaking from the bottom of the unit. We had this same problem some years ago and had a new unit fitted. I have turned the electrics off at the fuse box which supply the shower...

Replacing mortar around external door frame

For some time we have had a portion of mortar cracked and come loose on the outside of the door frame where over time the door has been slammed and worked it loose. Now it has finally fallen out - see attached pic. Question is - what is the best way to repair this? I have read about using a...

    Radiator valve cap question

Apologies in advance for what will probably turn out to be a stupid question, but today I called British Gas as we had a radiator with a leaking valve which wou k d not stop. The chap came and drained the system down and fitted a nice new one as per the picture. All good then I just went to see...
