New plaster - When can we put vinyl paint on

I think we will do the house in mist coat and 2 coats of white Dulux matt Trade. In the 2 shower rooms ill put some bathroom paint on the ceilings as i guess the steam will cause more damage to the plaster than sealing them. Obviously, we have fan/windows open etc to minimise. Then we will go...

New plaster - When can we put vinyl paint on

Thanks, conny. A few people say plaster should ideally be left for 12 months which isn't practical in most cases and others say when it dries pink mist coat then put final paint over that being whatever you want.

New plaster - When can we put vinyl paint on

Hi, I've been around in a circle a few times following old threads but I still need a bit of help. We have had an extension and refurb and all the walls have new plaster. I am in the process of giving it a mist coat with watered-down matt and then a second coat of matt. The plaster looks dry...

    Water Pressure.

Thanks guys, yeah I was hoping it would be at least 10l per min as that seems to be the recommended minimum. Stop tap looks fully open and yes its a mixer tap. There are bathroom taps that arent plumbed in at the moment but they also seemed slow before the build and again both are monobloc type.

    Water Pressure.

Hi, Hoping someone can give me a quick bit of advice. We are having an extension and we haven't lived at the house previously. As part of the extension, the gravity-fed water system has been removed and we are due to have a combi boiler instead. I am a little worried about the water pressure...

Radiator pipe insulation outside of warm house area

Yeah it does seem a bit strange. Lof of pipework by vents in uninsulated space. Loft space is not too bad because I can at least get to it and lag in Phenolic Pipe insulation and tuck a few inches of rockwool around it. The 50mm cold roof vented space is a bit different thought. Maybe...

Radiator pipe insulation outside of warm house area

Hi, hope someone can give some advice on insulation for radiator pipes that are outside the insulated space in the house. We are having an extension and the first fix has just put radiator pipes in the loft space and the 'cold' vented part of the roof (the wrong side of the 170mm of pir we have...

Insulating Web Joists in a flat cold roof

Hi, we are building our flat roof extension with web joists. The structure is a cold roof with 150mm pir then a minimum of 50mm insulation with insulated plasterboard (25mm)under the joists. The architect has said that pir should infill the gaps in the web joists as much as possible up to the...

    High DPC and Render

Thanks Charlie. Spoke with the builder last night and we are going with dark blue engineering bricks with a bit of darker dye in the mortar.

    High DPC and Render

Hi, looking for possible solutions to an issue with our extension. The house is on a slope (left to right and front to back) and this means that the dpc is about 1 meter from ground level on one side of the extension. The extension is going to be blocked and rendered. The builder started...

    Imperfect Blocks for internal walls

Hi all, we had a builder fall through and have been left with some pallets of internal blocks. We are in the process of getting another builder but not quite there yet otherwise this question would be for them. Basically, the blocks have been abandoned by the previous builder before any work...

    Realistic build costs

Thanks for the reply Mikeey. Yeah, I understand its difficult to put a rough estimate on it. Even though its just a flat roof box I guess the groundworks are a guessing game. Loft companies seem to think they can get the headroom but not sure how they do it. A case of squeezing every cm from...

    Realistic build costs

Hi, We are nearing completion on a bungalow that has a great garden but is maybe 30/40 square meters short of what we ideally want. That extra space would contain a sitting room, bedroom and shower room. The plan is that with a 75k budget we can add the extra space required but having some...
