Damp-proof course below 150 mm - is this a problem when selling a house?

Yeah I agree it's somewhat arbitrary and I'm not particularly concerned about damp bridging the cavity and coming inside. Nonetheless it doesn't meet the regs and could appear on a homebuyer's report and put someone off.

Damp-proof course below 150 mm - is this a problem when selling a house?

We've managed to get the level down so it's now below the air brick again and 150 mm is achieved in all but a couple of small bits where a fall is needed and it would be too much rework to lower the entire thing. I'm mostly happy with this and is probably the best realistic resolution. All a...

Damp-proof course below 150 mm - is this a problem when selling a house?

Thanks, woody, you always have useful advice. Does anyone have any opinion to the contrary? I really don't want to have to ask for rework but feel like I'm probably left with no choice. Thanks.

Damp-proof course below 150 mm - is this a problem when selling a house?

We're having a new patio installed and the builders are doing a great job. However, I'm concerned to see the new level is only 120 mm below the damp proof course in places. The new level also comes about an inch above the bottom of an air brick which doesn't look right and I suppose could...

    Upgrading to multi-point lock

I'm looking to upgrade my front door's lock to a kitemarked multi-point lock (the kind that insurance companies like to see). The UPVC door currently just has a single latch although it looks like there are cut-outs towards the top and bottom in both the door and the frame where I presume there...

Can you recommend a non-smart temperature-variable light bulb?

If I was rewiring the house I would be tempted to do that

How to increase mowing speed on small lawns

My other half would probably be quite keen on that idea. However I'm sceptical it would save time in the long run

Haha! I have tried! With varying results

How to increase mowing speed on small lawns

Not easily, and one of the lawns is in front of my house so I take the mower through the garage. Has anyone got experience of using a hover mower vs a wheeled mower of a comparable size and price? Would I be right in assuming that the wheeled version cuts better or faster? They seem to have...

Can you recommend a non-smart temperature-variable light bulb?

Thanks for such a detailed reply. Those are two promising options I will look into. I had heard about the Hue but discounted it for being smart, but it sounds as though there are additional products that can make that bearable. With the automated scenes, would this mean I could do a one-time...

Can you recommend a non-smart temperature-variable light bulb?

Thanks, that looks like an incandescent bulb which I'm not sure will give the 4000K daylight part of the spectrum. Good suggestion for the dim-to-warm though! I didn't know they could still be bought!

How to increase mowing speed on small lawns

My garden is split into three lawns, approximately 50 m² each and split on differently levels requiring moving the mower down steps between them. I'm currently using a small old electric hovering Flymo (30 cm blade, 1150 W motor) which does seem an appropriate tool given the limitations, it is...

Can you recommend a non-smart temperature-variable light bulb?

LEDs are so much better now than they used to be but I can't seem to find a bulb that can be varied between evening and daytime light. 2700K/4000K would be suitable, more variability would be a bonus. Ideally the bulb would also be dimmable or it could even combine dimming and colour change...

What type of shed that can be easily dismantled?

Hello, I'd like to get a garden shed for storage purposes but don't want to sink money into buying it only to leave it behind if I move house. What is the best sort of shed with moving it to a future house in mind? Thanks in advance

Insulation - cold roof meets warm roof

Thanks for your advice. I'm just concerned about blocking it in case it was left open for a reason, likely relating to ventilation.
