Open valley - slate and a half?

Noseall of course you can use slate and a halfs on hips as the last slate on the course going into the hip as the hip runs into the roof as the valley runs out of the roof.In the hip there are no courses continuing above and beyond your slate and a halfs. You do not use slate and a halfs on...

Thumbs up for EPDM roof sheet

I have just newly been on the epdm course which was done through Firestone who make tyres. I have been doing flat roofs for many years with felt and this rubber style flat roof is far superior because there is no heat involved and does'nt need the expense of high insurances. The rubber sheet...

Anyone had a roof clean done ?

No no no no no Power washing is a bad idea and you could use some kind of moss and algi killer but it will grow back ,it's inevitable that moss will grow back which makes it all a false economy.

Velux installation in a new roof

There is'nt an easy way of doing it the corner bracket's have to sit on the same height as the top of the tile batton. If your worried about the water getting in ,felt over the top of the hole and put the water tray in above the velux which catches any penatrating water from above. Then put your...

    Servis dryer no heat

Luke warm would probably be optimistic as i think it's only blowing through the atmosperic temperature of the room.

    Servis dryer no heat

I'm not as bad i sometimes make out. Should of said it's a condenser and it does'nt have a high, low setting just settings for loads and materials. Just need a rough idea to see if i could possibly get it sorted.

Roof overhang missing - correction needed

If thats only that it's not that big of a job to fix and roofs are not made to work in for full tiles........ so it very uncommon for a whole roof to work that you don't have any cuts up the verges. You always need to have cuts in somewhere as long as they are fixed in properly.

    Verge Slates

What size of slate are you using? If for instance you are using a 400 by 250 the last full slate before the half slate can have any thing up to 50 mm taken off ,by this your gonna increace the size of your half by 50 mm

Lead flashing split - is flashing tape too much of a bodge?

In my line of profesion i'm sick of people bodging valley's up with crap such as sealants and tape such as flash band.......ok it'll last a year or two if your lucky but when that point comes you'll have the same problem again.Do it properly and you can forget about it.The only way to patch it...

    Repair to lead valley

30 years can be too long for a valley because where the water drips off the tile on to the lead it can eventualy wear away at the same point creating holes.Yes if the lead is put in longer than 1.5 metre lengths it can crack with the atmospheric temperatures making it heat up and expand and...

Roof overhang missing - correction needed

How much of this roof has this problem? As much as you have allowed us to see the problem is only with the off shot to one side.

Roof overhang missing - correction needed

The overhang is designed to keep the water from running down the face of the verge and it stops the water from soaking through where the cement compound board meets the wall and running down the wall head and into the inside the house. You could seal it but it's common practice to give a minimum...
