    Is damp usually condensation?

It feel a bit like that. He basically tested the walls with the thermometer gadget and said they were all damp. I used the dehumidifier and moved the TV and now it seems all fine. We have had lots of heavy rain and I can't see any more damp patches. My concern is that it's not damp. We have...

    Is damp usually condensation?

My partner painted over it with some damp stain, so the picture might not tell much. I'm not sure why he did that before we discovered the source. There was a point where the room really smelt to damp but I couldn't find it, then the smell went. Then I pulled out the TV to clean and there was...

    Is damp usually condensation?

I have what looks like rising damp in my living room of an old late 1920's house. It's below the bay window, on the bottom above the skirting board and stretches about an inch above. I can see the paint peeling and the plaster is discoloured. The flooring is just the original suspended wood...

    Bosch washer/dryer problem

Hi, I have Bosch washer dryer and there appears to be an issue with the water draining. It goes through a cycle and the door opens but the clothes are still wet when on dry. There is no water in the drum itself but when I unscrew the catcher part tons of water comes out. I checked the sump...

    Floating oak mantle

Thanks. The wall is brick, it's a 1930's brick fireplace. I was thinking of rawlplugs as that is what place likes Celtic timber have in their videos. The issue is they don't specify the beam size in regards to the best fixing.

    Floating oak mantle

I am going to attempt to do it with the help of a friend. I can't find anyone to do it. My only concern is keeping the rods in a straight position as the resin drys. So I just wanted to be 100% sure that this is definitely the best fixing for a 3ft oak beam, by 5 inches depth and width...

    Floating oak mantle

Thanks, when it was done previously it was the woodburner installer, he did just as you describe but I'm going back a few years now. We are in Hertfordshire.

    Floating oak mantle

I'm actually struggling to find someone who has experience of thus type of installation. They don't seem knowledgeable about it and I have to explain. Then they say they can do it. I don't feel very comfortable having to tell someone. Maybe it's too small a job for someone with indepth knowledge.

    Floating oak mantle

Thank you I found this, I have attached, is this the correct procedure? 16mm threated rods. I had previously read the rods go into the wall first and then the mantle pushed on, this is the other way round.

    Floating oak mantle

I would love to, but I did that with my floating oak kitchen shelves and now they are all tipping forward.

Every imperfection - type of paint?

I had my walls plastered in two rooms, applied mist coat. One room using Little Greene French pale looks amazing but the other room looks awful. I used Dulux Hertiage York White. After the mist coat I did paint it in Little Greene paint yellow and it was not a nice colour, so wanted...

    Floating oak mantle

Hi, I have an oak beam for a mantle that is 3ft in length and then 5x5 inches. I wondered if was best to use straight brackets or T-Shape Brackets to fix it above the fireplace? My previous one was straight brackets. Any advice would be great, including size. I'm not doing anything that...
