BAL sealant to match Mapei grout

Hi, We used Mapei medium grey grout for the tiling but the matching sealant behind the kitchen worktop does not look good at all. The colour is quite different, perhaps as it's so shiny. Someone mentioned BAL grout effect but I wondered what one would be a good match or if there is an...

No DPM under door. Rotten floorboards

Thank you for the reply. What is the box? I'm not sure what that refers to. One joist is actually rotten at the end, directly below that door. We know all these joists were done in 1988 because the floor was laid with the laminate and not removed until my partner pulled it up. That area of...

No DPM under door. Rotten floorboards

My partner pulled up the laminate floor in our Edwardian house and discovered the floorboard next to the doors was rotten. It looks like there is no DPM. I'm not sure if you can tell from these photos. What are the options to resolve this? No point in replacing the boards until this issue is...

What size MDF for this size and shape

Thank you. It is an old Victorian staircase and the previous owner had placed a stud wall next to the stairs. when we removed the wall the side was missing and just a piece of damaged plasterboard sits there now in the shape and size I posted. I assume all sheets come in mostly width of...

What size MDF for this size and shape

Hi, What size piece of MDF should I get to create the shape and size? The max width I can find is 2200mm , so will it need to be created out of two pieces? Just wondered how you would go about this. It's to replace a damaged side of a staircase. Thanks

Is this normal? 2 inches off wall

Maybe it's the same people . I had the exact same concern as it's the kitchen and there is a pantry door. I am not overjoyed as it means the kitchen unit will be closer to the door, which is not the look I wanted. I'm worried it's going to look silly now if the door is flush with the unit. They...

Is this normal? 2 inches off wall

Well yes in regards to taking down a suspended ceiling, and putting in the kitchen. No discussion at all about plastering the wall.

Is this normal? 2 inches off wall

Yes exactly. Surely anyone would know it wouldn't look great, so perhaps they hoped I wouldn't notice or care. I'm not paying extra either. Hopefully it will be fine.

Is it easy to fit a spandrel to stairs?

Thank you. I was thinking of getting it cut for me, so it was more about how I fix it once I have it. As for it to fit there would be a gap between the plasterboard and the new piece of wood. Would it be just making some kind of frame attached to the plasterboard?

Is this normal? 2 inches off wall

Thank you. It is down to the floor and kitchen units will run along it so no skirting. Perhaps that's why they put the plasterboard there so the wall was level. But there units there before.

Is this normal? 2 inches off wall

Yes you are right. I think I tend to be too passive and get stressed out. I need to tell them to fix it.

Is this normal? 2 inches off wall

Here is a photo. I'm pretty gutted about it as I am trying to keep all the original features. That sill has sat there for 120 years. I don't really understand the thinking.

Is this normal? 2 inches off wall

Thank you. I will have to otherwise it's going to look ridiculous. Just the window sill flush with the wall looking like a lump of wood sitting in there. I wish they had asked me first. Previously builders have just skimmed the walls, so I was surprised to see two inches gone and the sill with it.
