ryiah if you dont mind saying, where in aberdeenshire are you .... im up in this area but dont normaly work far from my wee patch if your near me i can pop out and let you know if anything is wrong with your boiler ..... if not i can let you know how good your local quoters are

i agree mostly with what bongo said except ( lick your finger )
dont do it saliva will eventually create mould growth
to stop sealent sticking to finger try a weak soapy water mix (very weak) and stick your finger in that instead of licking it
As you have made a decision ( wrong in my view ) to have a combi then it will not be needed any more anyway.

tony
just out of interest why do you belive he has made the wrong decision by choosing a combi
unfortunately its an old cistern and is a weird shape
and does not have the room for a new syphon even the toilet handle has to work upside down so you push it up instead of pulling down
the customer said it was from france its also a nice pearlecent blue so cant just change toilet either (...
thanks for the reply that was my first port of call
travis perkins / plumb center / william wilson or bes seem to stock or seem to be able to get them
does anyone have any other solutions
cheers
the one infront of small blue tiles just check theres no screw anywhere on the handle ( cross ) body if there is thats the screw you need to take out if not the you will have to pop the top off and see if theres one there
before you go trying to prise it off does the metal ring directly under the
white cap have teeth running around it if so it unscrews use pipe grips or pliers if not then the only way is to prise it off it a thin blade
holty i take it your not a plumber
pics 3,4,5 are of the same tap #
tap 1 remove white cap check it does not unscrew before you try to pop it off remove the screw under it this will allow you to remove the top of the tap ( the cross )
then undo the cover under that normally only hand...
no the obvious thing to do is to call some one who knows how to fix it to the wall a plumber would be a good idea
or you could use 1, basin bracket set
2, basin fixing kit
both available from merchants or you local diy store
