    What is this?

Hi, What is this device? 22mm inlet. . From memory I think it comes from the cold header tank. I think it dates back to about 1985. Thanks!

    Air ventilation brick in kitchen

Yeah that sounds like a sensible plan. Might add a bit more expanding foam as you can see a bit of light through it.

    Air ventilation brick in kitchen

I've stripped out the kitchen and found this behind one of the cupboards. It is back from when the house had an old air ventilation heater system I think. Not required anymore and has been blocked up as shown presumably for many many years. There was a few mould spots on the back of the...

Reoccurring slow flow / airlock to cold tap

Its been 4-6 weeks since I did some work on this and the problem appears to have ceased. Solution apears to be: 1. replace old leaky gate valve with a pegler 22m ball valve 2. fit a new cistern valve since the upstairs toilet as it was taking a huge amount of time to refill. not sure if it was...

Reoccurring slow flow / airlock to cold tap

Ha thanks yeah, though my weekend is fully booked already so it may take a bit of time to get around to sorting it. I have about 3 weeks before the water flow gets slow again. Im in 2 minds about also fitting a drain cock while im at it so i can "bleed" the system without detaching the shower...

Reoccurring slow flow / airlock to cold tap

yeah that valve is fine. this one looks quite new too, still nice and shiny. Can't say i measured the gradient, but it has probably been that same gradient for the last 30 years or more...!

Reoccurring slow flow / airlock to cold tap

I've checked in the loft. The is an extra gate valve that I'd forgotten about immediately next to the CWT before heading down into the airing cupboard. There is a slight downwards gradient. very slight, and no room to make it lower without notching the top of a joist.

Reoccurring slow flow / airlock to cold tap

I'll have to check in the loft. There is probably a bit of wiggle room to make it lower. Could be done at the same time as changing the iffy gate valve. I do wonder where the air is coming in from though...

Reoccurring slow flow / airlock to cold tap

2 sinks, 2 toilets, 1 bath are all affected. The shower pump also becomes intermittant (turns on and off) due to poor flow on cold side. I then detatch the cold side, run into a bucket, cough splutter and then everything is good again for a while...!

Reoccurring slow flow / airlock to cold tap

I could add a new feed to shower pump. But has been fine as it is for quite a while. Ive onky been in this house 18 months. It was fine for 6 months on the old pump before the pump sprung a leak, and then has been fine for 9 months on the new pump. I'm not saying you are wrong of course!

Reoccurring slow flow / airlock to cold tap

There are 2 feeds from CWT, both come from the bottom of the tank. 1 for hot water cylinder, the other for the 2 bathrooms & shower pump. When it exits the CWT, it runs pretty flat before dropping down.

    Vent dryer through tiled wall

Well im pleased to say that everything went to plan! Took ages and kept a spray bottle of water to hand to keep everything cool. Screwed some scrap wood to the outside to prevent any blow out. Glad that job is done! Thanks for the advice.

Reoccurring slow flow / airlock to cold tap

It all looked clean in the tank. Only timescale sat at the bottom.

Reoccurring slow flow / airlock to cold tap

Every few weeks at the moment I notice that the cold water flow upstairs is getting slower and slower until it stops. I have a CWT in the loft, 22mm feed comes out and down into the airing cupboard. There is a tee at about shoulder height with 15mm off the side that feeds into another gate...

    Vent dryer through tiled wall

Ive bought a 10mm carbide tip bit to make a clearance hole in the tile. The arbor for the core drill is 8/9mm and probably a masonry bit so figured id be best making a clearance gole to start with
