central heating not working.

Replaced the pump because the previous one had seized so this works now and is pumping, but still the radiators didnt heat up even after bleeding them of air after investigation i found umpteen amounts of sludge in the smaller tank in the loft so drained all that and cleaned it up but still the same problem, so then we found a fault in the 2 way valve as the pipe that this is connected to wasnt getting warm at all.

So instead of replacing the complete 2 way valve i replaced the synchron motor that sits inside with a new one, pipe now gets warm all radiators gradually got warm but not hot as they should be so i bled the radiators some more, but no air comes out and neither does any water while the central heating is on i can take the bleed screw out totally and there will be nothing no air no water, but if i switch the central heating off and then bleed the radiators i get air and water ? wtf so in a nutshell it seems that when the central heating is on the radiators are getting hot without any water inside them.

anyone advise please, btw this is not a combi boiler its a back boiler central heating system basically an oldie.

edit:- ive checked the tank headers doesnt seem to be any blockage anywhere both tanks are full, when the heating is turned on u just get a trickle of water and then nothing else ?

Im beginning to think the new pump is duff hence the pumping is too weak.

if header tanks is full of water and no air or water coming out of radiators when you try to bleed them it sounds more like you have a blocked cold feed,a negative point coming from the header tank and tee-ing off to radiators, with all the sludge you mentioned this sounds the most likely. You need a powerflush.
